2 quick winter questions

First off, sorry to be that guy asking stupid winterizing questions, but I'm getting it done this weekend but have had it in 32 degree temps twice this week (where it was probably that cold for like an hour or so). How likely is it that my engine was damaged?

Also, my boat will be outdoors all winter with my factory boat cover on it. Should I also put like a tarp or something else over too?

If it's any help, I live in a desert climate in southern CA and I have a Malibu. Thanks a lot in advance!

As far as freeze damage, you are fine. It would have to be below freezing for quite some time to do any damage.
A friend of mine would always us the factory cover then a sheet of plastic then a tarp. The plastic protected the cover from damage due to wind from the tarp. It also gave it one extra layer moisture protection.
Make sure the boat is really dry before you put it away for the winter. It wouldn't hurt to leave a couple of those Dri-Z-Air's in the boat to grab any moisture that is left in there.

I 2nd Newty and would for sure put some drier products in there but for a cheaper route you can use cat liter or rice in opened containers.

Fill a bunch of old socks with kitty litter and tie them off and place in the lockers. Place an open small tub of it in the main cabin area and your covered. Won't hurt anything and works real well.

make sure you secure the tarp very well. My buddy has an all black x star that now looks awful because his tarp rubbed the gel all winter long on windy days. The tarps will make marks that a buffer can't get rid of if they are loose

x2 on securing the tarp. i had a neighborhood cat find its way into my boat last winter. if i knew the owner of the cat i'd have my interior redone. unfortunately i don't and am now living with claw marks on 3 of my seats.

I agree with everyone, you have to put a tarp or two over the factory cover to keep it protected and will not ware on the cover as bad. I would fold the tower down if it was me and put the tarp over the tower also. Then tie the tarp to the trailer as tight as you can.

I like the idea of the Dri-Z-Air's but I kind of feel like they attract moisture... Maybe one or two but you have to drain them every few weeks.

Check out those carports they have at Costco. I got one a year and a half ago for my SAN and it works good for keeping the boat dry and the sun off of it. I think I paid $200 for it.

sam- that looks tasty. word of advise about the carport- keep it WELL ANCHORED use more than the stakes they send! 3 years ago tried it- freak wind storm lifted the whole thing up and off of my boat. fortunately had only a minor scratch on the right side. (yes- all is convincing me to build a garage for my boat)
