Well I zinged my boat on a hidden dock post that was barely under the water. The scratch is about 2 inches long and just barely through my red to the white. Not all the ay to the fiberglass. Its a simple DIY patch job

Here is my dilemma. Spectrum only offers the Mastercraft Regal Red in a Gallon size. They no longer offer it in the patch kit size as its an older color red. I sure has heck don't need anywhere near a gallon. If it didn't have such a short shelf life I would consider just keeping it around as a "just in case" scenario. The other issue is that gallon is $250.00.

They do however offer a Moomba Regal Red patch kit. 19.95. Anyone know how far off this could actually be? I am pretty anal about my boat but the size and location of this zing and the 250.00 price tag of the actual MC Regal Red is insane has me considering going this route.

Quick google image comparison and it seems that the Moomba is slightly more orange but for a two inch scratch it is definitely not worth an extra 230 dollars IMHO

You could always buy the gel coat repair kit from West Marine. You get to mix your own color, and with a few tries you usually get really close.

Im a really fussy bugger and am getting a tiny few nicks on my boat done in the next month or so. Im trailering it to a gel coat manufacturer to match. Should i be able to tell the difference once its done?
