I have a 13 Moomba Outback V with a OJ 14.25x14 and from what I have been reading many are using the Acme 1433/1235 ( i have to measure for clearance on trailer before I go to the 1235).

By the numbers it seems that the OJ would provide the best low grunt especially compared to the 1433 (smaller Dia and higher pitch). My prop seems to be fine but it is the only prop I have used.

I am thinking the difference performance was will not be noticeable but noise and vibration will be reduced. Is this correct thinking?

Also if the 1235 fits is it worth the extra $50. I need a spare prop and figured if I could upgrade that would be a bonus.

I run up 1500-2200# ballast and have up to 6 in the boat, so I run a bit heavier.

I don't think you would notice any difference at all with the acme vs the OJ based on the specs. If you were running 5,000 lbs, you might notice a difference. Just my opinion.

I noticed a bit difference on my XLV. The OJ cavitated, the Acme 1235 doesn't, and it pulls harder overall. I prefer it over the 14.25.14 and over the OJ 5-blade.

I have the acme 1847 on my supra 24V with only the 325 engine. It pulls 3000 pounds of ballast really well even with 6-8 people on a big ole pig of a boat. Just another idea for a prop.

my own personal butt dyno liked the 1235 better in comparison to the OJ fusion (532) prop. Yes they are very similar on paper, but when you look at the props side by side, the blades are shaped differently, so I'm not sure that the specs translate directly between the two lines. The 1235 felt lower/shorter, and the OJ felt taller/higher. I did notice marginally better fuel economy with the 532 (less than 1gph better), but that's dependent on so many factors that I wouldn't read too much into that.

not apples to apples, but best mod to my launch20ssv was to ditch the oj prop and move to the 1235. better holeshot was expected and can't compare that, but the biggest difference was to clean up the vibration from the oj. very common issue on moomba/supra boats and been discussed in great detail on both forums. you will find almost everyone that swapped noticed the vibration gone..

I did a comparison between an OJ and it's Acme counterpart a few years ago. I found slightly better performance from the Acme but I also noticed the OJ had substantially thicker blades. I'm sure the OJ would hold up to a few minor sand rubs or light driftwood hit. Acme props are pretty much a total loss whenever they touch anything other than water.

I have a question, is it possible for a prop to wear out ? I have not hit anything but i do run about 5K in ballast and was just wondering if over time it looses anything .. Thanks I have the OJ 14X14.25. Was thinking about switching to the acme 1847. Would I see any benefits in doing so..??
