I've seen a number of posts here about injured ACLs and surgeries to repair them, so I thought maybe some of you might be interested in this. I saw this article in the local paper. Apparently they're doing some studies of ACL injuries that have been surgically repaired and what factors may increase the likelihood of re-injury. The article indicates that the study is open for volunteers to participate.

Good read...

Did anyone happen to catch the caption under the pic of Thomas Davis. Torn ACL in right knee for the third time in just 23 months. Unbelievable...

Having another surgery 23 mos after the first. I would be interested in knowing the failure rate after the different procedures and if it is your leading leg most of the time.
I guess if your normal knee breaks down, you cant expect to not blow the repair.

I had my ACL surgery about 7 years ago, and I'm behind the boat, I always wear it regardless of how I feel. I will admit that I don't use when I take a set on the rails, but maybe I should start.

I personally feel that if your knee is going to go, it's going to do it with or without a brace. That being said, there have been several occaisions where, had I not had my brace on, I would have been making a trip back to my surgeon.

My CTI's are awesome!

6 operations on my right knee. 2 ACL reparis 9 months apart from each other. 4 meniscus procedures including a lateral cadaver allograph. All from wakeboarding spanning between 2002-2008. That doesn't include the shoulder operations!

I'm pretty sure I just tore my acl for the 2nd time. I have an mri tuesday to confirm. I had a hamstring graft 3 years ago. Never had any problems out of the knee at all until last weekend. I always wore my brace wakeboarding, but not for anything else. Injured it wakeboarding and finished it off with soccer the first time. This time it was soccer.
