I thought raley's on the cable were scary to learn, but once you got it, it's definitely the easiet trick. Women think it's the most impressive.

I can't see the video here at work, but the MOST important thing is to release while you're on edge. If you let all the line tension dispate and then try a raley you'll eat it. Just cut super hard, while you're on edge jam your back foot into the water, and push away.

There's a video link in my profile with some raley's in slow motion.

We used to teach people down at ski rixen back in the stone age when i wakeboarded by having them take their bindings off and riding their board blank and flicking the board and basically getting the feeling down with not much risk of death or face planting. Then when they felt comfortable trying it with bindings on, hopefully it made more sense. The "flick" is the hardest thing to try and explain to someone with little exp. on a wakeboard. Basically transfer your heel edge to your toes as fast as possible is kinda what the "flick" is all about. Good luck!

^^^true

and to add to that...the most common mistake I see people do is trying to jump forward...not only do you look dumb doing that, it simply doesn't work. You have to push back and away...

yeah i can raley on a wakeskate its just inconsistent like one time ill flick and go 8 ft. off the water and other times ill go 3 ft and will be curving off to the side and have to bail out.

Some advise:

- Lock (or try to lock) your elbows to your torso while edging. You achieve two things by doing this - you keep the handle close to your body (or the center of the gravity)and you still can move a bit with your upper body.
- Consciously apply the pressure at the heel edge. Force the board at the heel edge. Force it even more, just before "flipping".
- Experiment with different trajectories. You should start with big easy curve, then build more and more pressure. Remember to keep elbows locked, the board forced at the heel edge and control the pressure with your upper body.
- When you start to feel the most pressure starting from your shoulders and ending at your heel edge you are ready to "flick". Keep your sight at something in front (maybe on the shore), start with you leading shoulder, dig even deeper with your front foot heel and throw your board to behind. Try not to rely on your instincts, because they'll tell you you are going to take a nasty faceplant.
- Try not to release you arms.
- Once in the air you'll feel like the time stopped. The landing is so natural you don't need any explanation on it.
- If you don't succeed try to improve two things - your hands (lock them) and your heel pressure.
