I am looking at a 1990 Ski Supreme MS. I currently have a I/O and am looking to purchase my first inboard. I am looking to spend no more than 12 grand. Does anyone know if this boat will produce a quality wake?
Thanks.

Look at 80 model CC 2001's they are a great inboard and you can get a decked out one for around 8k. There are two in the "older inboard" thread that look sweet.

my .02 with a 12k budget I'd go with an older CC2001 or an older Supra Sunsport. Both are very popular budget boats in that price range. The Nautique slammed is still one of the best wakes to this day and the Supra Sunsport is a very good wake also but it also has the open bow which is nice. I don't know anything particular about the Supreme MS, but I tested a early 90s model supreme before i bought my 85 Sunsport and there was no comparison for wake. The supreme I tested was so low profile. That also sounds like a great deal Duffy is offering up. IMO if that 1990 supreme is at your 12k budget, you have a lot better options available to you...especially in this market. like Luke said check out 'for sale' 'boats older than 5 years' I think within the first 10 posts you'll see 2 80s Nautiques and 2 older Sunsports (mines the 85 and the other is a 92). All seem like good boats. Personally I think that Nautique for 8k is a really nice boat if you don't mind the closed bow.

You have heard the consensus. Jeremy pretty much summed it up. I also went with the SunSport. The Ski Nautique '2001' (model name not year) will get you the largest steepest wake of any older inboard. But you don't have much seating. Depends on your personal preference.

I would buy something like this instead. It will have much more room, and it is all fiberglass. Same hull as the 05-08 v-ride. With some weight will produce a great wake.

Sport Nautique is still my personal favorite in that price range.

I really appreciate all the input. My dad has a pontoon boat and a 22' I/O at the dock so room is not a real issue. I am looking for a boat for damn near just riding and surfing. Is surfing possible behind a 2001?

I will put my Ski challenger with 2500 pound auto ballast up against any 1990's boat. Deep hull, v-drive, perfect pass. My pro buddies like it as much as their 2004 X-star. It has a nice rampy wake. You can pick one up from 8-15k. Depending on options.

Yeah it all depends on how much you can spend. For me personally I don't own a house yet and that's next so I want to have this loan paid asap. IF I wanted to I could sell the boat later, take that money and a new loan and upgrade. Fiberglass boat would be nice, but I am super happy with the SunSport. :-)

I have seen sunsports around my area for as litlle as 5K which would leave you with alot for accessories--the sport nautique would be a good option too. I owned an Supra Mariah that I bought with 300 hours and it was only 7K--again alot for accessories--good luck but I would stay away from th supreme
