Smaller boat often means bigger wake with less weight, I'd take a x2 unless you are willing to run at least 3000 lbs ballast.

From what i have heard is that the wake on the x2 is a technical wake. Not everyone likes it. I really haven't heard anything bad about the xstars wake. I personally have not ridden either but i do alot of reading.

Xstar won't fit in a standard two car garage. I wouldn't buy a boat if I had to drop another hun every month on storage and didn't have access to it 24/7. Sometimes you just want to have a beer in the garage and stare at your boat.

i sometimes do the same... except i have my beer in the boat... but now our boat is in storage... sux... had to make room for my parents 07 corvette...

there are alot of reasons why people go with the x2.
its only 20 feet so it will probably pass any length restrictions
it has a smaller price tag
has one of the best wakesurf wakes imo
with no weight it has a decent waterski wake for the skier in your family.
and it has a alot of interior room and storage

now comparing the wakes, they are both very similar in shape with smooth long transitions to a nice lip. the xstar imo opinion has alittle more size to the wake and the boat can handle more weight, but they both can both give you pro level wakes if thats what your looking for.

These two boats are what I ride on 90% of the time. I have written a lengthy commentary on the issue in the past but I forgot the topic name. Do a search.

What has been said above it accurate although I think the shape is pretty different (comparing MC to MC.) The X2 will send you just as high, but the wake is actually smaller. It is more technical. It has a unique little lip at the end that the xstar doesnt have. My buddy calls his Xstar wake "hit it and forget it." We both think the x2 wake is better for trip flip tricks like scarecrows. Both are world class wakes. I like the size and style of my X2 a little better, but would be just as happy with the xstar.

Love both wakes and boats. The X2 may be smaller, but has great seating room and storage. The X2 also surfs great goofy and regular, something the X-Star can't do.

Andrew, what type of weight and length of line do you
like on the XStar?
Thanks Paul

I have ridden on both when water got rough and the x2 actually handles the bigger water better than the Star, which wasn't bad...but the x2 was amazing for the size of boat.

Kevin,

What do you mean by the surf wake and the goofy v/s regular comment? Just curious.

On the xstar we run stock plus a 750 in each rear locker, a 750 in the nose (buddy too lazy to plumb in underseat sacks) and now have been putting another 400 in the back of the floor to give the wake a little lip like the x2. I ride his at 80 feet @ 24.7-25 mph - about the same as mine.

Can anybody tell me what the X1 wake is like compared to these two wakes?
Old     (duckguy)      Join Date: Jul 2006       04-25-2007, 10:28 AM Reply
Narrower and rampier

the x1 wake is narrower and steeper. closer to a 210 wake depending on how you weigh it

Cool, thats what I wanted to hear. Is the X1 easier to sink with less weight than the X star and X2?

woody, yeah man, you don't need a ton of weight for an x1 as it's so narrow and deep, but it's sure fun when you do sink it too.
