Anyone removed the hard tanks in a X15

I have been talken with Spencer at Wakemakers and I think I'm going to remove the rear hard tanks and go with the 1100 pound bags in my X15.

Does anyone know if there is carpet under the tanks or is it the raw fiberglass??

Carpet in Maristar 215 with no ballast, not sure about the X15. I would assume so???

I doubt there is carpet under the tanks, MC wouldn't waste money doing that. However, it should be pretty easy to get some marine grade carpet and put in if thats what you want. If your just gonna leave the bags in there when empty I wouldn't fool with it.

I wish mine did not have carpet when I pulled the tanks out of my old school x star. Pull them out you will be happy you did. Bags are better and you gain space as well. If it were me I would not put carpet in. Or I would go with sea deck.

Sea-dek is an outstanding idea!! I'm going to take them out tomorrow and see what I have to work with.....

zacharoo - let me know what you find under neither there. I think I'm going to do the samething soon. Are you going to use the same ballast pumps and hoses for the sacs as you used for the hard tanks?

Yes, same pumps. I have the 20 minute timers to replace the OEM ones. I'm going to run a 1100 lb bag on our surf side and either a 750 or another 1100 for the other. My plan is to add a piggy back to the front hard tank with two wedge sacks and the flyhigh valve.

I would do either both 750s or both 1100s. Even if you don't have any goofy footed surfers right now it would be nice to have the flexibility in case you end up with somebody goofy in your crew in the future. If you're going to 1100s It would be cheaper to spend the extra $40 now then to end up having to buy another 1100 later and figure out what to do with the 750.

Also, there's a dude on here with a MariStar 210 (Maybe Robert Hunter?) who bought 750s for the rear and said it was way too much weight for the rear of that boat. He went back to a pair of 400s. Not sure on any of the details about specifically why so you might want to dig up his thread(s) and/or contact him. Not sure if it just plain sank the rear too deep or if it was just too much weight for wakeboarding compared to what he would have had to do in the bow to compensate.

I have a 230 and should be receiving my 750s and integrated bow sac today. I will be pairing those bags up with a pair of 280 lb Fat Buddies in the ski locker/bow. We will see how that goes.

I was way off on my above comments about the Maristar 210. I was thinking you had an X10 as I was typing then looked again after submitting my post and felt like an idiot. Your X15 will obviously be a completely different scenario.
