I just got a pair of the Kicker KMT6's and the ZX450.0 amp. I am putting the setup in my 1990 Supra. I am wanting to control the volume of the boat and tower speakers seperatley but am not familiar enough with equalizers to know if that's the way to go. I also have no amp powering the in boat speakers. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

You can control the tower speakers by hooking up a PAC LC1 and the in boats as well. I just use the fade on my deck to control it but this is a great way to go.

any eq with a front and rear fade will work.

The wetsounds eq does the separate volume control

If he doesn't have an amp powering his in boat speakers, he's gonna want to get an amp before he gets an eq

will the PAC LC2 control speakers that aren't powered by an amp?

what is the advantage of an equalizer over 2 of the PAC LC1's?

The advantage is the ability to adjust the different bands and tweak the sound. It also would give you overall control of the sound level as well as fade, which would allow you to fade from the boat to the tower in a relation to each other with 1 knob instead of a knob for each.

sounds like an equalizer is the way to go then. is there any way to run 2 amps if you just have one set of RCA cables on the back of the head unit?

yes, depending on the setup. very worst case you could use rca y-cables if need be, but the 420 for example only requires one set of rca inputs and has outputs for inboats, tower and sub.

I believe your only option is to get two RCA y cables or splitters and put one on each plug. That would give you connections for two RCAs

Use the fade, and spend the extra dough on gas and beer. That's what we did.

I have two unused in package PAC LC-1's if you want them I would sell them for $5 ea plus shipping.

i ordered an equalizer today. so i wanna run rca cables from the HU to the eq then to the amp right?
Old     (jonyb)      Join Date: Nov 2008       05-05-2009, 7:44 AM Reply
That's correct. 1 set from the head unit, and 2 or 3 sets to the amps.
Old     (mattgettel)      Join Date: Jan 2009       05-05-2009, 7:51 AM Reply
so i only run 1 set from the head unit to the eq? news to me.
Old     (wakeborder5)      Join Date: Jun 2002       05-05-2009, 8:30 AM Reply
EQs usually have one pair of inputs and then two pairs of outputs for front and back outputs as well as a pair for the sub

Matt, we just have the fader on the deck. The tower speakers are the rear, and the boat speakers are the front. No EQ.

thanks guys.
ray-thanks for the heads up. i shall see what i get when the eq arrives.
mike-i would love to do that, but i want to be able to contol the volume from the drivers seat. the radio is mounted under the dash on the passengers side. i am also using what i believe is the original radio from 1990 and the fade is all goofy.
