Hey -I was thinking about picking up a helmet...never tried on the Capix, but they look pretty cool -how are they compared to others??
Ie. Protec or Hyperlite.

Jr -why do you want one so bad -have you worn one before?

after trying them, protec and bern I'd def recommend the bern's, they feel alot more solid and sit much much better than the capix, capix seem too cheap and plasticy

bern is awesome.

Yeah to me the capix are like "why even wear one" you still get the concussion from hitting the rail you just do have the gash to prove it.

...shred ready

I agree with Allen. The thing is not very protective. Tony is really not liking it anymore. It moves around and gets in the way on certain tricks.

Here's the problem with Capix.....

When you wear it backwards and take a spill (not even a bad one) the bill catches water, and flips the helmet down into your face. The back edge of the helmet will bust the bridge of your nose or your lip everytime.

Wear it forwards and it will flip back, with the strap choking you.

I've tried one and was not impressed. My 2 cents.

I like my Capix for the sun protection. I wear it forwards. But yeah, the padding is skimpy.

Re-pad it, been using mine for 4 years when it's required.

I bought my Capix this summer and love it, i know its not comparable to a Shread Ready or Bern or even Pro Tec.

But it did me great this summer had a few diggers that still hurt but would have hurt a heck more if i didnt have it on, i only reccomend wearing ti backwards though as thats how it is meant to be worn, when wearing forward it a bad crash the beak of the cap comes down and hits yoru face.

I second you Larry, Repad it. Mine is awesome and ive been rocking it since 2003. Never had any problems with it choking me or hitting me in the face and its defiantly saved my melon a few times. Upload

I wear mine on my BMX bike. I have taken a few good crashes with it and actually ended up in an ambulance and the ICU room after falling 16 feet to my face. But the helmet saved me. really. it doesnt have alot a padding but the shell is stiff, sturdy and doesnt flex like other helmets. It saved my life. I am sure of that.

what are you guys "re-padding" it with?
Old     (michaelvincz)      Join Date: Jun 2003       10-13-2008, 11:01 AM Reply
Pad from other helmets... I still use my origional pading though, but repadding is a good idea instead of buying a new helmet.

Hey Micheal, Larry said Troy moved back to Indiana. I think he might be home.. Jr I replaced Larry's with some protec insides from a old helmet and two sided velco.Upload
