What's the trick to doing a nose press for instance? I've tried them in the past, but never get what I would consider a real press. Maybe I'm just not putting enough weight forward and it takes more than I thought. Any suggestions?

What works for me is not only pressing on my forward foot, but also leaning a bit against the cable (or boat). Whatever you do don't try and lift your back leg- it won't work. Focus on keeping the handle low, pressing on your front foot and leaning against the line. Take a look at my profile pic- it may help you. I started out learning a poked nose slide (which is much easier) then eventually transitioned to real nose presses. You may want to try nose slides first if you can't already do that.
