Epic is doing a good job getting electric wake boats going. It is good to know that we'll still be able to tow on the water when gas gets too expensive in the future.

Wow at 5800 lbs for a 21 foot boat that should throw a hellofva stock wake.

Is it a time machine as well? I doubt it gets up to the needed 88mph's.

Great Scott! 1.21 gigawats!

Man, cool idea and everything but at least make it look like an actual wake boat. What market is this boat geared towards cuz I honestly don't see anyone who is a serious boarder ever considering buying one of these. It really does look like a Gekko. I think it's a cool idea, but just too ugly.

I like the way the prototype looked when they had it in the current epic hull. Thats an eyesore in my opinion the way it sits now

It's gonna need a bolt of lightning.

From what I hear they offer this the 21' electric boat...but they also offer the 23' electric boat also. So they have 3 models.

Although it has a tower on it, this boat isn't really geared toward being a wakeboard-specific boat. They describe it as a "sport" boat. They still have the 23VE (think that's the model) that uses their wake hull. So now they have two electric models and I believe they both retail for around $150,000. Believe it or not, they're doing pretty well with them in Europe. Good for Epic for pushing the boatmaking process in new directions!!

Good call Bizz and David, I just now got over the way that thing looks to realize its a 21 in the OP link and not a 23

At $150k, I don't care how much the batteries/engine costs, Epic needs to build better dashes.

good idea, way to push the boundries...but its just to ugly and to expensive.

That is the Gekko Revo 6.7 hull. It actually is a very nice performing boat. It can also take a ton of weight before the wake starts getting really big. I could see how a heavy electric motor would work well with it.

This is a sport boat, guys, not a wake boat. It retails for $127k, not $150k. It is based on the Gekko Revo hull, since both manufacturers get their boats built at Fineline. It's a runabout and should sell well to Prius type owners. If you've ever boarded behind a Revo, you'll know why they labeled it a sport boat.

Never fear, however! A 21E will be here very soon. That's an all new 21 foot wake hull electric boat.

I applaud Epic for being truly innovative and not focussing on the small stuff. Most in the industry seem fixated on wraps, more stainless accents, more audio, and more indash electronics and growing their MSRP on accessories. Yeah the price tag will not fit the masses and the boat lines are not what you are used to with wakeboats, but hats off to them for pulling this engineering off. Hope this will get others to re-think the power train, which, beside EFI/MPI, has largely remained the same for the past 3 to 4 decades.

its a cool idea, but what about maintence on it? you would have to take it to a dealer for any kind of problem regardless of how small unless you are a guru when it comes to electrical engineering. Just saying because thats how it is for my friend that has a prius, and they charge out the nose for the work. any one have an idea of how much it would cost to charge the batteries? Just going out on a limb but there cant be a big differnce between the cost for that much electricity to charge it vs the cost of gas? But I do have to give it to Epic for pushing the industry in a new direction

Its a dumb idea because it's not good for Epic's bottom line. Why don't companies focus on dominating mainstream market? The camry of wakeboats.

If everybody made the same widget, nobody would make any money. LCD TV's we over $10k ten years ago. Innovation is what drives the mainstream market. Epic is innovative. Bling is not innovation.

Daaamn! 5,800 lbs. Need a semi to pull that thing over steep incline.

The integrated swim step makes it look cheap.

I am glad to see the invention is here.

Like someone mentioned above, new inventions are always super expensive. If it takes, the price for the technology should drop significantly.

However, the retail price for the latest and greatest wakeboard boats have increased year after year.

So - who knows what will happen with the end price.

Either way - it is good to see the new technology on the market.
