Thinking of building a fiberglass box behind the IB sub in my 2006 230 VRS. Then replacing the sub with a good JL audio. Has anyone done this and will it be worth the money in the improvement. The wetsounds rev 8's sound so good, but the poor factory sub sucks to keep up. Thoughts?

Is it a true IB sub? Is the boat built right for a true IB setup? What kind of power is the current sub and future sub going to get. Are you going from a 10 to a 12? Im certain your upgrade will pay off, especially if you are asking "will I see an improvement in ride quality if I replace this flat tire with one that holds air". If you've got a "broke" setup, yes, fixing will be a pay off. If everything about your current setup is right, then more info is needed in order to say it would be worth the investment.

factory IB JL audio 10 sub behind drivers seat, Local stereo last year had me try a JL sub port box with a JL W610,, it rocks hard out in open of boat, but is muffled in under the storage compartment. So i was thinking,, fiberglass a box and install new better sub to fit,, this way it all looks factory

Yes changing from a JL IB to a ported w6 even with the same amplifier will have more output in the lower hertz...I would change the amp too though..
