I have a supra with a indmar assault 325. My altenator is out and I need to replace it. Anybody know the part number for a direct replacement. It's has the 70 amp one now and I would like to go up to the 90 or bigger with kith changing anything else. I think the 90 is a plug and play but can't find the part number.

Local dealership told me I would have to swap out all the pulleys to upgrade to the 90. Can anybody confirm this ????

I can't find any around high point NC

If you look at the one on the bottom of this page http://www.skidim.com/products.asp?dept=1174 I think it will work for my boat but I'm not sure. If I could find the part number for the kit I could get it for a discount from my father inlaw but the website doesn't give a lot of information.

Indmar do a 90a alternator and you need a cable that they supply that converts the plug as they are different (90a has a 4 pin plug). You alternator doesn't look like its a factory Indmar one as its the wrong brand from memory, sure those come on the MerCrrusier engines (does your loom still have a plug on it that goes into the alternator or has it been chopped and now has eyes crimped). Can't recall if they supplied the 90a with a v-belt pulley as most of the later engines use a serpentine belt. Another thing to consider is that the wiring for the alternator in some engine looms was a bit light and a 90a will need the main battery or positive cable to be made larger to cope with the extra current that needs to be transported through it.

Can supply part numbers but am not in office at the moment

Ian if you could give me part numbers that would be great. My father inlaw is a manager at a parts store so I can get from him at a huge discount. I just don't know what to order.

Indmar use Delco alternators on the chev based engines, 95a alternator has a part number of 575014 (Delco 8600002) and only comes with the serpentine pulley the plug you can purchase is 801235 and has a pig tail so you can splice your old wires onto it.

Just to make sure it looks like with the new plug I splice the purple wire to purple and black to back then just plug it into the new alternator. And remove the pulley from the old alternator and use it, so I can keep my v grove belt.

Thanks

Just had another thought, from what I can see in the photos it looks like you have a Mando alternator so why don't you just put a bigger Mando alternator on it? The Mando alternators don't have a 2 pin plug but have screw on terminal rings so if I'm correct someone has already moded the wiring loom so that they can be fitted. The other reason is that I'm not sure if the pulley on the Mando will fit the shaft on the Delco as I have never checked, I do know the shaft on the 70a Delco is the same as the 95a Delco.

Yea it has a Two ring terminals and a plug that goes into the back of the alternator.

So which Mando would you suggest.

Sorry I've never mess with alternator except just swapping out the one that already in there.
