Well, all other sports suck compared to pro football, so let's get this party started...

Haha very true, so is that what the new/old LA Rams are gonna be using?

I wish! Somebody did some badass mockups of all 32 teams. Most of these look sooo much better than what's currently on the field! Dolphins, Steelers and Raiders are my favorites.

Almost all of them are cool except Seattle's which aside from the helmet color is virtually unchanged.

It is so true that all the other sports suck compared to football. I wish College Football was in the first half of the year and Pro Football was in the second half of the year so we could watch football all year long. Basketball is so self indulgent. Baseball is so methodical.

^^I totally agree that football is the best but I'm very thankful it's not during the summer otherwise I'd have to choose between the Hawks and going to the lake. It's bad enough in Sept. & Oct.
BTW I'll be posting a picture soon of me in my favorite player's jersey. TONY ROMO IS THE BEST!!!!

Those are pretty sick! That Steelers helmet is my fav, also stoked about the Bucs and Stars. though not a fan of any of those teams...

The football year has started. Lots of big and surprising changes already this year not the least of which is Jimmy Graham to Seattle. Gonna be weird seeing him in a Hawks uniform as he's been a pretty big rival the last few years but it'll likely be fun
Old     (markj)      Join Date: Apr 2005       03-11-2015, 6:58 AM Reply
I can't believe you guys got Graham. That's just not fair. Now you guys will actually have a passing game. Wasn't there some fighting last year between Graham and some Seattle players? That ought to be interesting.

Out of all the craziness yesterday and the absolute dismantling of the 49ers, the biggest move to me is the Jimmy Graham move. He will absolutely kill it in Seattle and add one more element to already a world class team.

http://mynorthwest.com/292/2430986/M...soft-overrated

"Nobody likes Jimmy Graham. I think he's one of the softest players in the NFL," Bennett said. "I think he's overrated and I really don't like him as a person or as a player. ... When he's not in the game he's not in the game. He doesn't help on the blocking plays. I think he's just overrated."

I would relax about the 49ers...
minus Gore - ready for Hyde who is much better outside the tackles and read-option. Saves cap space too.
minus Willis - his choice - ready for Borland and Bowman. Saves cap space too.
minus Crabtree - overrated - ready for Torrey Smith.
minus Skuta - a real loss but a backup to Aldon.
minus Iupati - he sucked last year. Later.

Thanks for the reality check, GD. You forgot the missing coach. That's huge. Glad Gore is with the Colts and not the Eagles. Willis... What a class act. Agree on Crabtree. That POS Sherman was right about Crabtree.

Everyone will be surprised by the 49ers. Tomsula will rise to the occasion. KAP is going to have a huge year. All we need is some OL and DB help from the draft. I am certain that they will do better than last year and at least make the playoffs.
Old     (diamonddad)      Join Date: Mar 2010       03-11-2015, 11:15 PM Reply
Oddly, I am so happy Gore is gone. He was so great at running between the tackles and so bad at running outside. Defenses with cover corners knew that they could stack the box and play the run/pass. This is why the 49ers saw this from defenses that had corners that could cover our slow receivers man-on-man. Further, Gore hated the read-option which is KAP's bread and butter. So, things will really be looking up with 1) read-option, 2) a back that runs outside, and 3) recievers with break away speed.

^^^ That's funny. I'm kind of disappointed in the fall of the 49ers because the Rams won't get as much credit when they win the division now. I kind of like having all teams in our division being in the top tier of the NFL. It's going to suck that there are only three of us now!

This might be one of the craziest years in Free Agency. Lots of big moves awemi gky everywhere. The sad thing is the still young players retiring because of injury's and concussions. This could become a real big problem for the NFL.

Can't really blame this on the 49ers. That's a weird decision. He has had 2 concussions in his life outside of the NFL. He should have played until his first concussion and quit the day after.

Gonna hand the St Louis fairy helmets a brutal loss at home for their start of the season...

I don't see our schedule as that bad this year. Green Bay is probably our toughest road game. That bodes well considering we'll be healthy and our D will simply overwhelm Rodgers and co when we are firing on all cylinders.

CAM has not done anything. KAP has had two good season and one bad season.

I am rooting for a good year for KAP but the 49ers need to stop loosing great defensive players (Willis, Smith, Smith, Borland).

CAM is just another bust. We couldn't catch a break if it hit us in the face. Every year now I get to decide which team I'll pull for in the postseason since ain't no damn way we are getting anywhere. I miss the moose and smith days

Nice to see them win a game at the end though even if it was preseason, refreshing to know it's possible.

Since this thread always boils down to week to week picks, why don't we have a wakeworld pick em' league instead of a fantasy league this year? Then we can see who really knows their stuff.

I'll set it up if anyone wants in and maybe David could toss a t-shirt to the champ as well?!?

SF vs VIKINGs on MNF.

Everyone and their brother predicts a pathetic 49ERs this year while I predict a young team that will be competitive on most Sundays.

Everyone cites the losses in personnel as the primary issue but I see it differently...

Harbaugh->Tomsula: the players are responding well to this change from pensive/twisted to enthusiastic/simple.

Roman->Geep: we should see a much more wide open offense with much more misdirection, screens, draws, rollouts, and read-option.

Gore->Hyde: an improvement to a much younger back who likes the read option and take runs to the outside.

Crabtree->TSmith: a huge improvement; Smith has speed; Crabtree is mediocre.

Willis->Bowman: Willis was getting old; Bowman is reborn.

Borland gone: Borland was great on runs but sucked on the pass.

ASmith gone: Aldon was hardly present for 2 years due to all the suspensions.

JSmith gone: Justin was getting old and never really recovered from his arm injury 2 years ago.

The only big concern of merit is with the Oline which was also a concern last year. But, Geep, Hyde and TSmith can help keep the defenses honest.

For Monday Night vs the Vikings, I expect a competitive game. A few break downs mixed with some big plays from 49ER newbies.

Rams d was every bit as effective as ours. We woke up but it was foiled by a couple really bad defensive failures. Give the Rams their due, they beat us straight up. We'll see what we're all about next week in GB.

Tony Romo is the man!!! Just ask Darren? 27 game winning drives in the 4th quarter. That's why Jason won't bet on the Cowboys. Down by 10 in the 4th quarter he drives them for a TD. In typical Cowboy fashion penalties and missed tackles allow another FG but worse yet all Dallas ' s timeouts are gone. After another bone head play by Eli to stop the clock. Tony drives them 76 yards in 1:25 for the winning TD to Witten.

Couldn't agree more. Congrats to the Cowboys and my guy Tony for barely beating possibly the worst team in the NFC East in Dallas.

BTW Hawks offense is terrible and they need to pay Kam. I tip my hat to the Rams.

Peyton only scored 19 points all game. You're asking me why Tony can only score 27? Romo 36 of 45 for 356 yards and 3 TD'S . Peyton an impressive 24 of 40 for 175 and NO TD's. His brother Eli was 20 of 36 for 190 and 0 TD'S also. Both Manning ' s combined threw for 9 more yards than Romo, but at least Peyton got a win.
