Is this a 2001 Nautique?

Doesn't mention it in the add and am not to familiar with them in general. From what I gather it's the best old boat to buy though.

No, predecessor to the 2001, my guess is 1976. The 2001 started in late 1982 and ended in 1991 (I think). Lots of differences in the hull, the wake is totally different. The wake off that boat will be steep and narrow. You won't get the rampy wake that everyone likes from the 2001.

Most distinctive features are obvious from the rear shots. Notice the dropped V above the rudder and the stepped/notched rear corners.

2001 model was from '82-'89. that boat looks like an '80 or '81 to me.

I know it is not a 2001, I know someone on there can give him the exact year model, so he could compare prices. I was just trying to help out.

As Mikeski pointed out, probably the most definitive way to tell a "2001" are the "spray pockets" on the rear 3 or so feet on the bottom edges of the hull and the "V" shaped hull shape at the transom. If it has those two things then it will undeniably be a 2001.....That is unless you look at just about any Nautique made after that. They carried that design throughout their hulls up until a few years ago and to a lesser extend still do today.

I've shared the below pic many times but in case you've never seen it....'83 on the right, '03 on the left. If you look just above the license plate on the '83 you will see the spray reliefs, and just above the rudder is the "V".
