I had a OJ 468 on my boat and damaged it beyond repair. I'm looking for a new prop. What is the difference between and 3 blade and 4 blade besides the obvious? I'm thinking about going with the 468 again. Any suggestions. I have an 06 V-ride 21ft. Weight her down and do a lot of wakeboarding and surfing. Thanks!

a three blade takes(pushes) three larger scoops of water per revolution.....and the four blade takes 4 smaller scoops of water per revolution. Many small scoops helps for better acceleration....while taking three large scoops make acceleration more difficult as your trying to push more water at a timegoing to a 4 blade is like going down a gear in your car say 3 to 2. more torque better acceleration

if you use a lot of weight and mostly wakeboard and surf i would get a big dog...ACME or OJ's 4 blade wake props. it is amazing how much of a difference there is. ACME's is the 1235. i'm not sure about OJ's model.

I had a three blade on my Sanger. I contacted Acme and told them how much weight I ran and they recommended a prop. I would recommend going that route.

http://www.acmemarine.com/faq.php Here you go. Call Karl @ Boarditup.com or Acme directly and they'll hook you up with the right prop.

I find that I get a closer shave with the four blade but it's probably just marketing hype.

I talked to Acme and they told me a 4 blade is not good for a Sanger. With the 1:1 transmission it is better to run a low pitched 3 blade like the 911

I run the 653 per Acme's recommendation on my V215 but I told them I do mostly surfing.

Yeah I stayed with the three blade. I was given two choices depending on if I wanted to lose a little top end speed. I was also told three blades are more balanced and smooth.

who ever told you that wanted to sell a 3 blade its opposite.

A. Two blade propellers are mainly used on yachts. A narrow two blade propeller has minimum drag for sailing. Also some two blade propellers are used on high speed racing boats.

Three blade propellers are the most commonly used on all outboard, sterndrive and inboard engines. They normally give the best all round performance on boats to about 40 feet long.

Four blade propellers are normally used on large boats where load carrying is a requirement; particularly commercial fishing boats. They are smoother than 2 or 3 blade propellers and as the diameter used is smaller, they can be useful where the aperture is restricted.

Five blade propellers offer maximum thrust for minimum diameter. They overcome excessive propeller loading and are ideal for restricted diameter aperture. The are also very smooth, and reduce cavitation and slippage.
