Hello,
I’m new to the boat buying market but looking for all kinds of feeds to make a smart purchase. This has been a great site so I thought I could seek some comments on this boat I’m looking at.
It’s 2005 Malibu Wakesetter XTI, 22’
Condition is excellent, stored indoors.
337 hours, Monsoon Motor Direct Drive
Fresh Oil Change and Impeller
Trailer has new tires and brakes.

I’d love a new boat but can’t take on the mortgage like price. I need something that a young family could wake board, surf, tube and maybe even ski behind. Looking for comments on whether this is a reliable machine, with a good reputation.

Thanks!
Chris

This is a crossover boat that is a direct drive. it will most likely do all the things you want okay, but none of them great. I don't have any personal experience with these boats but this is what i have gathered over the years from these forums, etc. The layout i always thought was really funky. The whole direct drive in a wake hull thing just didn't end up panning out for any of the manufacturers as people moved towards more dedicated wake vs ski boats.

I'm sure it will be quite reliable. The Monsoon motor is good and Malibu makes a good boat. Hopefully it has the Titan III tower on it and not the 2005 Illusion X tower. I just like the Titan III better personally. You can go here and search for what models have sold for in the last 2 years to be sure you are getting a decent deal.

I’ve spent a bit of time in one. I would never buy one. As a crossover, it’s a complete fail. It has pretty decent wakeboard wakes. Surf wake is aweful. Slalom wakes are aweful. Interior is not comfortable. They ride real nice though.

If skiing is only a maybe I would be looking into V-drive boats, they are more $$ but the interior layout and wakeboard/surf capabilities would be much better.
