Hi, I'm in search of old boat good for surf and wake.
Do anybody use 2002 Tige 22i type r for surfing. Is it good to by ?
If not, please suggest what is better to look for from 2002-2010 build?

Not a good choice for surfing. My 2002 malibu wake setter is for sale, its a v drive with all the ballast and pounding stereo you need

My tige, which is smaller, surfs pretty well for a direct drive. I think that boat probably surfs pretty good - it's a pretty big boat.

22i likes to bury the bow if you are not very careful. It's a nice layout and you can talk to the surfer from the back of the boat easily if you add an FAE. The back cockpit lets you put in more water than an engine weighs so It's just a question of setting it up for your wave. There are other boats and other D-drives that have a better surf wake but you need to get a boat that you like at the price you want.
Tige from 2002 is much different than a current Tige and were not very common back then.

I'm not fond of the wake. At all. Don't know about wave.

This boat has same chances of producing a good surf wave as any v-drive hull designed prior to the surf explosion that resulted surf specific hulls. The one down side is places to put sacs.

Check in over at www.tigeowners.com for surf wave feedback. Theres a few 21i and 22i owners there.
