My buddy just picked up and 06 X-1 and he really wants a depth gauge. The MC dealer wants a little over $200 for the factory gauge and $100 for the install. The boat is already pre-wired for it.
My questions are:
Where does the factory depth gauge go?
Where is the "puck" or sensor go in the hull?
Did MC have an actual MC gauge or just an aftermarket option?
Has anyone installed one?
I can't imagine installation would be that difficult but if its just a aftermarket gauge I can't see spending $300 for something like that.
Pics would be ideal but any info would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

I think you have to have the dealer do it because the depth in the X1 shows up in the same display as the hour meter, lake temp, air temp, etc. Its all one screen. You can scroll through and select which one you want displayed. Here is a pic when it is on temp, but this is where the depth shows as well.

i think you'd be okay putting the puck close to where the shaft goes through the hull. that's where it is on my 2000 XStar (same hull). there is actually a 6"x6" (approx) area on the bilge floor that is smoothed and flattened out so the puck will sit flush on the floor....maybe it's the same with the X1?

I think this thread on Team Talk Should help out.

http://www.mastercraft.com/teamtalk/showthread.php?t=33053

There is a PDF that shows the install location for all 2004, 2005 MC's and the how to. I do not think it changed for 2006.

Newty,
Did you check with Matt here at the shop. I know we have all kinds of MC parts from all the Copes stuff we have?
