Slowing the boat down mid-air

Does anybody have the driver slow the boat down mid air to make it easier to land/learn new tricks? I've done it before and it really helps just wondering if anybody else employs this technique. I know its sort of like cheating but it works.

UHH no sounds like a good way to get wrapped up if the driver slows down too much.

Sometimes i give a quick flick on the landing of spins for learners to let them pull in the slack but thats as far as I will go

Isn't that called "bumping"
