Upgrading my bass for this season, and debating if I need to upgrade my alternator.
I have a pretty strong battery bank of 8, and 1 separate starting battery.
it did great last season running my 2 12s from one 2500.1
However this season I'll be running a pair of healthier woofers, each from a dc audio 3.5k.
In addition I have an SD4 and an SD2.

I was thinking a mechman something in the 220-240 range. Putting out around 145-160 at idle

Putting this back up there. Want to do something like the mechman 240a but can't find any info.
Bass amp is going to be in a single chassis 6500rms @ 1ohm @12.6v so I'm going to need it.
Realistically after rise, probably more in the 4300rms which is the 2ohm rating. But still, I'm going to need a boost.

Do you have a charging system?

I have an on board charger. But that doesn't do much when my bass amp is pulling 350a+ by itself lol. I'll have my bank depleted in probably 30min
I'll have to have a generator running that charger all day lol

I can run all day on my set up from last year. But realistically out of that 2500w amp I was prob seeing half of that after voltage drop and impedance rise.
This year I'll be seeing about 5x that power, real power lol
So maybe I'm not giving my bank enough credit. Maybe get an hr or 2 out of it haha

Maybe your new build is a candidate for the new lithium phosphate power banks that are now available. Would definitely put them through their paces.

I've been checking those out. Juicebox has a deal running on them right now

I would like to have a couple of the Juicebox lithium batteries to replace my bank of 5 group 31's. My Sundown ZV3's are pretty loud on 3500 but would be a lot better on the new Sundown saz5000 or new svc 6000.

How much of that 3500 do you really think you're seeing

A bigger alternator will not even get close to charging 6 batteries. I have a pretty big system I have 5 batteries for the stereo. One solely for starting the boat and I can run 3hrs no problem. I have a 2500, 600.2, and 4 300.4s. Get a bigger battery bank or better batteries before you buy a bigger alternator.

I can run all day, and part of another with my 2500.1, sd2, and sd4.
But adding an amp that is pushing 6500w at 12.6v, and almost 8kw @ 13.8 is no joke.

Don't really know after box rise and the lower voltage I would guess maybe 2500 or so. I need to clamp it and see acutally where its at. Don't get me wrong they do fine on the 3500 but I know they can take a lot more. I can play all day with my current setup but another 2500 or so watts i would need at least 3 more 31's to keep my play time the same. They rule of thumb I use is for ever 1000 watts I need at least one group 31 battery.

Let me know how the ZV4's do. That is what I was going to run at first but Jacob at sundown suggested going with the ZV3 but the zv4 just look badass.

I had no intention of going with them until I saw them on a blowout deal from sundown prepping for the zv5. At $290ea shipped I had to bite

Hey brad. Do you have any videos or anything of your system. I'm curious of what to expect

I don't of the current system, but I'll get some. I do have some 4 sa12's last year on the same amp, but our twins started going out more so I had to make more room. So I went the zv3's nice thing about them they us a small enclosure 1.5.-1.75 is what is reccommended. The 2 zv3 are very close spl wise to the 4 sa12's I was very shocked considering I gave up a lot of area but gain a lot more motor force.
