Here's a link to my ballast install project. It came out really well. It's on page 4 of my boat progression thread

looks clean man! hopefully going to do that to my supersport this winter buy i think I am going with ballast puppies, any reason for going with the aerator style pumps instead of impeller style?

Very nice. I did a simular install on my '97 Malibu VLX a couple years ago and made one adjustment of a check valve placement. It has worked awesome and i love it.

1. Cost
2. Speed
3. Ability to run dry
4. Less amp draw ( I can run all three pumps with the engine off and the stereo up)
5. I like having water drain out the side, nice visual aid
6. Less holes in the bottom of my boat

The down side is more wires and hoses. Some will say you will have priming issues but if you ensure the pumps are always below the water line they won't give you any problems.

It takes around 5 minutes to completely fill this system of 2150 pounds, which I don't completely fill he rear bags for wakeboarding. So essentially I should never wait on ballast to fill because it takes hat long for the rider to get his board on and rope up and get into the water.

What are your reasonings for using the 800 as a drain? I can think of a few reasons why I wouldn't care if my system drained as fast as it filled... But just curious to hear why you did what you did. Is it just as important to have the drain pumps below the water line like the fills? Water draining out the side is pretty bitchin but I just don't know if I'd be able to fit all 6 pumps below the waterline in my sport.

The 800's screw right into the bag. The 1200's have to have an adapter made or bought to work with the bag. I did 1200's for drains but if I did it again I would just go with the smaller 800's.

Nicks got it right. It's just a lot easier setup with them screwed into the bag. Figured there would be less prime issues because the tube from the pump is actually inside the bag. Also when going through check valves and thru hulls 3/4" hose is easier to work with.

I don't surf much so draining fast isn't as important to me. I wouldn't change a thing.

The pumps need to be below the water they are pushing. So the fill pumps need to be below the water line of the boat in he water. The drains need to be below the bags they are draining. Like I said above they just screw into the bottom of the bag.
