Supra Launch/Supra Sunsport ballast question

Hi all,

I have a 2001 Supra Sunsport DD with the factory hard ballast tank under the rear seat...only problem is it was not plumbed at the factory. I'm trying to find any information or pictures I can to see how the factory did it in order to try to imitate their setup. If any of you guys have one of these boats or know anything about that and could give me some info, it would be greatly appreciated!

I had a 2000 supra launch with the hard tank. Right under the section of the floor that opens up for the shaft there was a 1000 gph pump on through hull...no shut off valve or anything.... Another pump pumped out the back passenger side and also the overflow went out right beside it.

It seems to me that most builders in that era had less than ideal ballast setups. I am not sure I would look to the factory install from 2001 as much of a guide. Hopefully some people on here that have installed their own ballast systems can chime in with the best possible way to set it up.

Yeah I agree with Brett. You can build a much simpler and easier system now. Give a call to www.wakemakers.com and they will be able to walk you through install instructions and provide all the supplies you need to do it.

I Have 02 Launch that has the tank plumbed in. My boat is in storage right now but I will be getting it out soon due to it was broken into and had most of the electronics stolen from it. I will have it torn apart for repairs and can send you any pics that will help. It will be a few weeks before I can do this though..

Here's a picture of where the pump was on mine.... The previous owner had a 350lb bag that piggey backed the tank and was located in the back locker... Took about 5 mins for them both to fill up which I was pretty pleased with.

I spent a bunch of time on their site the other day, lots of nice things to make me spend a bunch of money! Definitely going to be purchasing from there once I figure out what I want to do.

I was just curious where the factory had located their pumps because I'd like to make use of that hard tank and have the pumps hidden in a location that is convenient and accessible. I'd probably be adding additional ballast once I get the rest of the stuff fixed up on this boat.

Thanks a lot for the picture!! If anyone has a picture of the lines going into the tank (believe they would be behind the panel in the rear locker, that would be awesome too!

My exit pump is mounted directly to the bottom of the tank. The inlet pump is mounted below the engine (DD) on a manual 90 degree quarter turn shut off valve similar to a home water line valve. I was told this was factory by the PO. However, I have no way to prove that? My front and rear bags are plumbed in this way which he told me was a add on for them..

Interesting! So are the two threaded openings on the top of the tank both for filling? Or is one a vent?

I'm not sure about any threaded holes on the top? Mine is a 02 and I don't think it has those, I will try to check on that here soon. I believe the fill inlet is towards the top on the side and the other one could be a overfill vent?

Again, don't follow stock. Just talk to wakemakers and they'll set you up with a better than stock solution.
