The handle should be against the flat of your back/butt, your should be bent over with your butt sticking back out, and you should have your weight over your toes. I found it helped to go into the trough and practice this awkward position first. That way, you can keep two hands on the handle (cuffed), and slowly let your front hand off...when you start to slide out regrab with the front hand. As you practice, you'll get more and more confy. You can then start doing inside out b/s 180s at the start of your run to reinforce that position. Then, take it to the wake. Trying to learn it going wake to wake will likely be hit and miss. If you learn the foundations, you'll soon have it dialed.
