I am wanting to run 4 in boat speakers and a kicker l7 10" sub of off the same amp. I need it be a class D amp. I have read the l7 needs a lot of juice. Any suggestions.

I've used a kicker 700.5 in the past running my 4 in boats and a CVR104. I was pleased with it. Pretty inexpensive and powerful.

Is your L7 2 ohm or 4 ohm DVC?

It is 4 ohms.

Honestly, I would suggest a 2 chnl or 4 chnl for the 4 in-boats and a mono chnl with a 2 ohm rms between 600-800 watts. Not many 5 chnl amps out there that are going to deliver that kind of honest/tested rms wattage on the sub chnl.

Ok thanks. That's what I was guessing I would need.

Any suggestions for both. I want both to be class D and not too expensive. How many watts should I be looking for on the boat speakers. They are 195 watts max a piece, 65 watt rms, 4 ohms.

As mentioned a dual amp setup is optimal for getting the best performance for each. Especially for the sub.
However wiring up a single amp and having only 1 to deal with has its pro's. The problem you run in to is that the L7 needs/wants way more power than your speakers do. It's going to cost you some cash to get on the high end of that power range with a 4 channel 1 amp solution and be at the high end of the L7 RMS. You'll also have to take your time and tune it as to not overpower your inboats and fry them with the extra wattage to them.

That PPI amp is a fan favorite on here and I will also throw in the Polk Audio PA D4000.4 (PAD4000.4) as two great middle line amps. You're tad short on the rms side of that sub, but over the midpoint. Step above those a Wetsounds Syn 4 would work. The best single amp solution match would be Wetsounds SD4. Again though nov we are talking $$$$$ Where if you went with two amp solution you would most likely get more power for less $$$$

I'm okay with using two subs if that is best. I figure a real cheap amp to push the in boats cause anything is better than running of the head unit. I don't know how many watts I should be looking at though. For the amp I guess between 600 and a 1000 watts. Any decent amps for good prices. I'm not looking for extreme bass so it doesn't need to be top of the line.

Have you considered the Exile Javelin amp?

It's a true 5 channel amp that's seems like a good fir for your application. I'm in the middle of my own audio build and I got a Javelin to power my cabin + sub. I've heard this amp on several of my friends' boats and it really jams.

The four cabin channels EACH give 100 watts at 4 ohms -or- 150 watts at 2 ohms.

The 5th channel (sub) gives 500 watts at 4 ohms -or- 800 watts at 2 ohms.

When I un boxed it last week there was a CAE certification included showing how my actual amp tested out.

I haven't checked it out but will. Thanks. I'm very stupid when it comes to audio stuff. So thanks for the suggestions.

Ok. I have switched and am now going to get the wetsounds free air 10" sub. What would be an amp that would adequately power this sub around 300-500 watts at 4 ohms and 4 in boat 4 ohm speakers at around 100 each? Thanks.

Syn-4 = 100W to each of the 4 in-boats and 400W for the sub.
