I am sitting here watching Sports Center and it seems that Virginia Tech has a "hit system" that is basically G meters inside football helmets that record impact data in real time.
They are not being used and they have full teams worth of helmets in stock, ready to go.

Doesn't V/T have a wake team?
Aren't some of them WW members?
See where this is going?

Can we get one of those guys to strap in and take a digger for the sake of science?

Never mind.. silly idea.

The helmets have been around for a few years. I think they were developed when I was in school there in '06 or '07. I am sure they have used them in past games.

I know when they started out they just used them on running backs. The g-force is measured in real time on the side line. If a player receives a hit that is to "harsh" the system will issue a warning of some sort and the player has to come out of the game immediately.

Very cool system when it's all said and done.
