Picked up the hero 3 black for an upcoming trip, and got the wasabi extra batteries and charger. Debating whether or not to get the battery bacpac (like the thinness/lightness of the hero3 without it). How long realistically do you think I'll get on a charge shooting 720p/60 with wifi disabled? Temperate to cool weather (motorcycle riding in japan mostly)

Wes; the Wi-Fi helps chew threw battery life. But 45-1 hr is about what you can expect.
I bought the Back Pack battery but haven't done a full time test

Wow that's awful. Under an hour at 720/60?

I get 2.5-3 hours leaving cam on with wifi on so I can just start and stop it while wakesurfing. That's with 1080 @ 60fps. I'm using the gopro battery pac.

I get about 4 hours of runtime on mine at 720/60 without wifi and 3 with wifi. Unless its super hot outside, then reduces probably 25%.

My Hero 3 battery life is nothing to brag about... I get an hour and a half tops with wifi on, no backpack. Wifi off it's more like 3, but I really enjoying the wifi because I can control with my phone easily.

Wow sounds like it's all over the place. I figure I can get things positioned and started via the app, then reach up and turn off wifi for the duration of my ride?

I should specify that I'm leaving the camera on for the duration, then recording just bits and pieces here and there
