]We've been out of the boating scene since 2009. We are looking at getting back into it. Our primary focus will be surfing and tubing the kids. I had a 2005 Supra 21v and we had the wave dialed in nicely. However it did take a lot of weight and filling and emptying of fat sacs.

Price is definitely a concern. The price of some of the boats is crazy. So I don't have unlimited funds.

The two boats I'm considering are....

2009 Supra 21v launch with approx 200hrs for $36500. I would prob spend another $5k for ballast upgrades, prop, surf platform and a Go Surf Assist or similar device. So I would have $42k into it to get it up to speed.

2015 S226 Supreme that's basically loaded the way I want it ( wet sounds included). I know this is a great surf boat from what I've read. I've been quoted $61,000. I feel this is a good price.

I need input on prices and boats. Thank you

Here's a pic of the Supreme....

So, is it a used 2009 Supra 21V Launch for $42k and no warranty
OR
is it a new 2015 Supreme s226 for $61k and full warranty?

Is it worth the $19k difference to step up to the Supreme?

Please help in this decision and please let me know your thoughts on the price of the Supreme. Good, Fair, Bad?

Hey ssmith
Imho you will be light years ahead with the 226. I have surfed both and I don't think they are comparable surf wise. 226 far superior. I have ridden this boat quite a bit and it makes great wakes on both sides, super easy to weight and are great boats. Look at the wake9 site and see the write up and photos of the 226 there (it's a few years old).

For surfing it's supreme all day every day love the 226 just sold ours and bought a 238 . The surf wake is epic on both sides and easy to set up.

Thanks for the replies. Lets throw one more into the mix...

2012 Centurion Enzo SV211 for $52k with 109 hrs

The enzo is nice but the 226 crushes it as well when talking surfing. The 211 enzo is only 20' 8'' long .although it feels big it is still just a 21' boat. Youu will get tons more room and freeboard with the 226. Plus a better wake. I have never heard anyone say they wish they bought a smaller boat.If the 226 is a new leftover 61k is a great price

I did not like the 211 enzo as a surf boat. The wake was too soft, and it was so low to the water you were always worried about water over the back.

Ok one more to add....

2015 S21 loaded with 9 hrs as demo boat. Full warranty for $57k?

Also is it worth a 4K difference to go up to a 226 with same options?

Yes it is worth the extra $$ for the 226 over the s21. It will also be cheaper in the long run as you will not need to upgrade because you are getting one of the best surf wakes out there. The s21 is ok but does not surf as well.

Have you sat in a s21? They feel really small, the bow is huge though but who hangs out there?

The family went to check out both the s226 and s21 today. Didn't notice much of a difference in the bow area, both were very nice and large. However, the 1.5 ft difference overall was obvious. The 226 was just a much larger feeling boat.

I've located a leftover 2015 of each that I really like. Of course the S21 is the cheaper of the two. I would go the 21 route but thinking I could regret that decision over $3k would haunt me. I think I may always be wondering how much better would the 226 be. I think the 226 would keep the family happy for years to come and no need to upgrade for a long time.

You wont regret your decision the 226 is a awesome boat. As your kids get bigger you will appreciate the extra space. We loved ours and put 300hours on it without one problem. Like I said only reason we sold ours was to get a bigger boat.

How would a 2014 Axis a22 with surf gate compare to the 226?
Old     (h20king)      Join Date: Dec 2009       04-28-2016, 6:09 PM Reply
Not a fair comparison. Look at both and you will quickly see how cheap the build quality of the axis is and just how much nicer the supreme is. The supreme has a better surf wake and has a much nicer rough water ride but the axis will have a better wakeboard wake. Just go look and drive a couple boats and buy what you like. Every answer you get on the forums are biased including mine.

Thanks for all the input Harold. Life is busy with work and 2 kids so test drives are limited. Our family really likes surfing and tubing mostly with a little kneeboarding and a little wakeboarding mixed in. That's why I rely so heavily on the input of forum members. You guys have been behind the boats I'm asking about and to me that means a lot. We are test driving the 226 tomorrow and are buying it pending the test drive. I'm sure we will love the boat and can't wait to surf it.

Im sure you will like the 226 it is a nice boat that will put out one of the best surf wakes out there. We have been super happy with Supreme .and think it will more than fit your needs.

i had a 2008 Supra 21v and at least the 2009 has a newer Ballast System. The old one was a mess and i do not know why Supra has used it for many years. But between 2008 and 2015, the boat builder did make a huge progress for surfing, the boats are build stronger and more rigid.
The 21v is a lightweight boat, it surfs not to bad, but you will need some extra ballast (Back and Bow - i have used 3 150lbs Bricks, to move them around) and the regular side wave is hard to get clean and lacks a little on push. The good thing about the 21v, it was running all the time, i did have my problems, but i always could go back to the harbor.

So, if you can have the s226 with a surf system, yes, its worth the $ it costs more.

The A series Axis boats from 2014 and earlier had pretty bad surf waves. They changes the hull in 2015 and now they are really good.

Thanks for all the input. I decided to go with the 226 pictured above. Paperwork is underway. Dealer is putting a 3 outlet heater in it for the wife and kids and I will pick it up next Wednesday or Friday. It should be a fun summer!!!
