First off, beautiful work. I have a hard time even picturing the next step or end result. Out of curiosity, what is the total count of subs/components/tower speakers etc. If it is top secret, no prob, just curious. Can't wait to see/hear this thing at Springride.

Aaron, sorry I'm making you doubt your painter.

Honestly it doesn't matter where he works, that doesn't make the paint match any better.

Joe- married this last year and the wife and i are expecting, so the "wool" count has been going down lately. For some reason it has been harder to convince my wife that bringing all the "young" girls from my office/gym to the lake with us is a good idea. But don't worry, I will keep trying.

It looks like that stereo is going to cost more then the boat. Considering the boat is an X2 that makes it doubly impressive.

All jokes aside, very nice work and keep the pics coming. Is that a bass knob in that side panel?

It just sucks when its winter and your boat just sits. In Joes case it sits in a kustom kar audio shop every year. Joe your not only successful you a real cool person.

Joe with all that power in your boat your going to have to run PG&E on that thing. The guy from Mastercraft was at kustom today. Scott was asking him about the billet door. He thinks that he can make it work. He is going to get back with Scott on it. I think my favorite part about the boat now is the two tens in the bow. Scott is so dam good.

Joe, you're very welcome. I have to admit that I was eager to see what the fellas were up to as pictures sometimes don't show everything.
I was not disapointed when I saw the Orange Krush coming together. The full crew at KK is in another league.
So, will there be 2 lines forming? 1 to ride in it, another to ride behind it?
Cheers

this boat was going so well, the inside very nice , good speakers , very nice glass work, good subs arc, BUT then it all went down hill with the towers speakers. im sure he could have made a fiberglass encloser that would have looked and sounder much better. just my opion

Ed: "Nothing Louder than NVS" Thats not what my DB meter said when we tested them. Not trying to start somthing but blanket statments like that are pretty funny.

Ed" Im not gonna touch that subject because thats not what this thread is about. Nor do I really care. I only commented because your statment is not only a blanket statment its not true. But mabey thats why you said it so as to reel in some internet chit chat. BTW: Nautiques are the best boats.

Old     (mikeski)      Join Date: Aug 2003       02-19-2007, 11:14 AM Reply
Joe, Scott & all,

The boat looks fantastic, the fit and finish is inspirational. The NVS on the tower really look great and I am sure they will sound equally as great. I can't wait to hear it... hint, hint.

Whenever a statement like "nothing is louder" is made just demonstrates one person’s opinion. I can say with confidence that the statement is simply not true. Big Ed has boarded behind my boat so he is comparing his NVS to my speakers and he feels his NVS are louder. I could say the opposite is true, but I don't like to voice my opinion as fact. For me, it's not about bragging rights, it's about enjoying the boat, boarding, skiing, and listening to some nice tunes in all situations.

Back to what is important... Nice work Kustom crew, this one of the most impressive systems I have seen here on Wakeworld in 3 years!
Old     (big_ed_x2)      Join Date: Jul 2004       02-19-2007, 12:26 PM Reply
G,you're not gonna touch the subject yet you say it is not true...what is the deal, yes you are or no you're not?

Mikeski,You are right about one thing,it is only my opinion but I'm not comparing my NVS to your wetsounds,I was comparing my NVS to every tower speaker I have EVER heard period.

It's funny how nobody wants to engage in a discussion but they will state that my statement is not true.

We are on Joe's thread so me stating that should be left at just that.I don't go on a wetsound or any other speaker man. thread and say that NVS is the loudest or better.Calm down you speaker fanatics.

Joe,the only person that will give you the run for your money as far as tower is concerned is Duane.
Again my opinion
Old     (nvsairwarrior)      Join Date: Aug 2003       02-19-2007, 1:57 PM Reply
OK, I usually try to stay out of these discussions but I would like to set a few things straight.
Whether or not the comparison done before was under any significant degree of scientific control or not is even irrelevant. Why?, firstly, the Tyrants were never designed to be or marketed as the Highest Performing Tower speakers, the Entity holds that distinction. Secondly, the Tyrants on Joe's tower are not the same as Tyrants available prior to '07. Thirdly, at the time of the comparison, the best of one manufacture was matched it up with the 3rd tier product from another.
What you see hanging on Joe's tower represents the Highest Performing tower speaker set up that will fit between his tower vertical tubes. Are they off the shelf Tyrants? no!
This set up will blow away a pair of Entitys and sound very good while doing so.

Kustomkaraudio,
Not sure if you have any pics of it, but I was wondering how you made the grill for the subs under the dash. What is it made of? I am planning on doing some subs on the other side of my 07' X-2, and was wondering what you made the grill out of.
Thanks,

The frame and actual grill? I would of guessed a metal material for the actual grill so it would not get damaged.
Old     (macgiver)      Join Date: Jun 2006       02-20-2007, 11:28 AM Reply
The frame is made out of 3/8 abs routed off a template and the grill is made out of grill mesh Then panel bonded to the ABS.

Micheal, that's for the link.I missed that thread.

Instead of "G" and Mikeski beating around the bush, they should have posted that link like you did.

Not really sure how it was tested but if you guys used the same amp for all the tests and all the tower set ups.....I would say it is very inaccurate.

Ed, stop hi-jacking this thread, it's not about tower speakers.

It's about Joe's bada$$ boat!

Just look at all the custom fiberglass work these guys did.

So if it was established, why am I getting corrected on Joe's thread that is installing NVS.I was just giving props."G" and Mikeski jumped in b/c their feeling got hurt b/c I said NVS was the loudest.

Mikeski,I'm just replying! You and "G" hijack this thread from the beginning so don't be like that.

I think it it very stupid to post something and to have everybody wonder what you are thinking and what your opinion is and stating that you don't want to post your opinion but you know what sounds the best to you.(directed at Mikeski and "G")THEN IMHO don't post shiet!!

I have no problem speaking my mind and posting my opinion. If somebody gets their feeling hurt b/c I express my opinion is on them.If everybody had the same opinion and same taste in life then that would be irrelevant and everybody would own MC's and have NVS tower speakers.

Joe,REALLY sorry for the hijack but somebody got to set these boys straight!
Old     (ponte_06_x2)      Join Date: Jan 2006       02-20-2007, 10:33 PM Reply
The only thing on this thread that is really the best is Babson and Bravermen. You cant go off what the guys did on the link. They aren't even comparing apples with apples. Put the wet sounds against the NVS 1010s. Then lets see what happens. But really you people who really care about what's a better speaker need to stay busy with something else. What Kustom Kar is doing to Joes boat is on another level. You have two guys that have been awarded top ten installers in the US a hand full of times.BOW DOWN to the kings. THATS WHY THEY HAVE A CROWN AND WOOFER ON THEIR LOGO. Joes boat is sick. Hey Big Ed just because you say what you feel doesn't mean its right. You are the only guy that has said anything bad about this install. Like the dash thing. You have no clue what you talking about. You just assumed that they would. The orange. If you look at the other picts you can tell that the orange on the boat is not the same color due to shadows. Thats why people wont show picts of the stuff they do is because people who think they know what their talking about always put more than two cents in. Ed you must be mad because Grant hasen't offered you a ride in his awesome caddy. Man what I need right now is to see the video I have of Grant parking his sick rig in a parking place. Thats dope...

"Whenever a statement like "nothing is louder" is made just demonstrates one person’s opinion. I can say with confidence that the statement is simply not true."

Freaking hilarious, lol, lol, lol. IRONY at its finest!

P.S. your test is VERY flawed.

BTW: INSANE job on this boat, are you guys dynamating anything/everything?
Old     (big_ed_x2)      Join Date: Jul 2004       02-21-2007, 7:54 AM Reply
All eyes on me,
I'll start by saying that this is the nicest install that I seen on WW to date and the most work as well.Just b/c I speak my mind doesn't mean is right, you are absolutely right but you know what my opinion is.This is a forum that people share their opinions and all I was saying "say your opinion"don't make people wonder what your thinking after bringing it up.
Why are you so bitter about me not liking speakers in the dash?On all the Malibu's I've been on that was a problem so I just mentioned it.As far as the color,DUDE you are making a lot out of nothing.I thought I mentioned that I was joking already.
FYI I know Grant personally,so if I would like a ride in his Caddy all I would have to do is ask,RIGHT Grant?

Matt,I'm not sure it is necessary to dynamat since the boat is fiberglass.

AGAIN Great job guys!!

Big Ed, I kind of agree but I am curious mostly about the glove box and dash area. I would think with this high end of an install you would want clean, accurate, tight bass. Rattles in the dash, glovebox, and throttle linkage area would be a bummer when you want that accurate tight bass sound. I like the feeling of a new car, no rattles, squeaks, etc. With this boat being so new, I am curious if he has plans on doing any sound dampening in those areas?
Old     (ponte_06_x2)      Join Date: Jan 2006       02-21-2007, 10:33 AM Reply
Big Ed. I respect that you have your opinion. I said the Grant caddy think because I also know him and I also know that you know him. So I was just messin around. If you go to the spring ride we should get a beer or two. Late

I think the install is great. Detail, fit finish is top notch.

I am curious to know though, why is the owner of this boat not a fan of fiberglass boxes?
Old     (grant_west)      Join Date: Jun 2005       02-21-2007, 11:00 AM Reply
Enriched Audio has "Lance Doggy" as there company mouth peice and Kustom Kar has Jerry Ponte.

Ed: the only reason I disagreed with your statment "Nothings louder than NVS" is because Jerry's mouth will blow a pair of NVS's away.
Bahahhahahahahahah.
Just messing with you Jerry, I can do that because I know ya right! LOL
