My brother in-law runs a couple of them in his boat. one to the tower and cabin speakers and one to the sub it's all budget stuff but I worked fine for him last summer with no problems.

I don't know about the amps, but my buddy and I made some tower speakers and put the Lightning Audio 6x9 speakers in them and they rocked. They were louder than his new set up. 4 Clarion 61/2 and 4 tweets

I've been running audiobahn amps in my boat for a few years. Alot of peole knock them too. I've had zero problems with them. and there cheap. I have hangup w/ putting $500 amps in my boat that I know will be getting damp/wet. Now tower speakers is a differnt story...I can remove those every time I get home. Just my opinion

Go to crutchfield.com and get a profile amp, they are about the same price as the Lighting audio but have a proven track record. Crutchfield has a great return policy too. I know that Best Buy sells Lighting audio but have you ever tried to return something from them? Forget it!

Good advice Jphillips, I agree. Like i've stated before, the general rule of thumb is $1/wattage on an amplifier. Keep in mind the two most single important pieces of equipment for any sterio are the reciever, and the amplifier. Partner that with good wiring and you can make almost any speaker sound good. BTW, for a really cheap speaker i was actually kind of impressed with the lightening audio series.
