The Syn 6 is probably the ultimate amp for that setup but is kind of expensive. According to the specs the syn 4 would under power the pro-80's but so would the Alpine PDX4.150. How about the Arc Audio KS300.4? 175 to each pro-80 and 350 to the 485.

is arc amp based on the same platform as the zappco line of amps. I would like to see 200 watts rms to the pro 80s and 450 to the pro 485 is their 1 amp that can do this or will it take 2?

I believe that the wetsounds and arc's are very similar. The Syn 6 will do 200x2 plus 600x1. That might be the closest you get.

Tony- Some arc amps are designed by the same engineer. Zapco does not have any class G/H amps ,only A/B and a 2200 watt class d. The Zapco 650.6 would do 180X2 and 200X1 ,remember this is classA/B ,better sound quality but larger size . The syn 6 is 200X2 and 600X1 class G/H The Arc 900.6 is 120X2 and 550X1 class A/B

also will you be able to tell the difrence in sound quality with 50-75 watts less. Lets say 150watts instead of 200w what kind of fall off will there be in how loud it will play and sound quality?

Class A/B is going to be the cleanest when comparing equal power. Class G/H is going lose some clarity ,but gain efficiency.. i.e. less heat and battery consumption .

what two amp are you trying to compare? The downfall by application of the Zapco is the lack of power to the 485,but better sound at the mb-8's .Are you going to notice that?.....no ,it's only a midbass driver. If it was full range that would be different. I would toss it up between the syn 6 and the 900.6 for a more equal power comparison

Tony- You have a great speaker setup, but why limit them with one amp? If you really want to make those babies sing do what Wetsounds did on their demo boat. Run big A/B power to your speaker. The used Hertz HP series amps and boy did that boat sound f@#$% awesome. Using this setup isn't the most efficient but I'm sure you did't buy the Threesome to be efficient.

tony- You could run a syn 2 to the 485 and a syn 4 to the pro 80 's to maximize the power handling. That would be absolutely ridiculous! The demo boat is full of syn amplifiers ,oh you mean the old demo boat before they developed their line of amplifiers.

I didn't know they had a new demo boat. Alls I remember was that that boat sounded amazing! Remember when they first showed it at CES? The entire north hall just filled with music when they turned it on. For those here that haven't been in the Las Vegas Convention Center during CES, it's a huge convention center filled with every car audio manufacturer out there and they are all showing and playing their gear. The Wetsounds Tige' was clear as a bell and louder than all the noise in the convention. It just rocked! I think Tim got a noise violation?

yes i want 300x2 to the pro 80s and the syn 2 to the 485 will be 400 rms right.Hope that will do the trick ready to pull the triger on amps .had 2 pro 80s this year on kicker 650x4 thought that was loud till boat pulled up with threesome that had 2 zappco amps with about 1500 watts going to the tower speakers. WOW that was all you could stand in the boat!

Thats what I'm talking about, Power. I bet those Zapcos weren't efficient or class G/H. Like I said you can never have too much power. If you want big sound you want big power. If you do Arc Audio do SE amps. There is a huge difference in power and sound quality between a SE 2150 and Ks 300.2. Even though power ratings show the same.

The wetsounds xxx sub is going to perform better than the flatline sub. Flat line subs didn't work in the 80's either. Another good woofer is the boston spg555 ,but again needs power! digital designs FI There are many good woofers to choose from , most importantly is the application.

Yeah, stay away from flatlines. I have always preferred the ARC series ARC 15 and it work nicely in a small 2 cf box. Overall I have had excellent performance and sound when using the JL Audio 13w6v2.

I have to second John, I just installed the WS Syn1 and XXX combo and it sounds great. With regards to your tower speakers, it seems you really want a very loud system. Why dont you just run 2 485? Personally, I run 4 WS Pro 60 powered by WS Syn 2 and it loud enough. Sounds like a nice system, I am sure either way it will sounds great.

tony- The only down side to the DD sub is the enclosure size. As the DD subs are recommended for ported enclosures. If you got the room watch out! If you are running good power 2 1500 series are good w/800, watts , 2 2500 @ 1250 -1500watts, 2 3500 series @ about 2500 watts,2 9500 series @ 4000 watts. 9510

tony, The WetSounds SYN 6 has lots of power and its truely class AB. Not all class AB amplifiers are created equal but this design was influenced by Robert Zeff (originally Zapco) so its very good. Properly balanced you're not going to use the entire 600 watts but if you're going to have a little excess power then the Pro485 is the most deserving. A little extra dynamic headroom in the middle is a plus. The Alpine PDX Class D will be your highest efficiency option. The certificates on four instock units show 4 x 180 watts which is typical. So its just on the heels of the SYN 6 powering the Pro80s and produces symmetrical power. In other words, an identical 180 watts to each of four 8-inch drivers when used in the three channel mode per your application. Another good option would be the Class D JL Audio HD600/4. What distinguishes the JL is that it will produce its full power with supply voltages as low as 11 volts plus it maintains an equal efficiency loaded into lower impedances or when bridged. This is very rare. The HD600/4 has twin power supplies so its definitely a beast and under-rated. A unique feedback circuit monitors and compares the input signal to output and corrects the signal over 400,000 times per second. Make no mistake about it, this amplifier compares favorably in sound quality to JL's Slash AB amplifiers. The JL HD 600/4 also has a built-in port for a remote level control for your tower speakers. There's plenty of other great options out there. I'm familiar with the above three. You can't go wrong with any of them. David Earmark Marine
