They appear to have a new foam and are US made. Good on Hyperlite for bringing some production back to the US. Hopefully the other true custom shapers don't get ideas about raising prices too much. That is a crazy price.
It is actually a VARIAL board that HL is having produced and branded for them, based on the video on the page. I am not familiar with VARIAL, but I am also stuck in the midwest. Maybe some left coasters will have some input from ocean riding.

Hopefully all surfboards get that expensive. Maybe it will limit the number of people doing it.

I've seen the whole 2018 Ronix lineup when I was out at Lake Ronix. Some legit gear coming next year with some brand new models coming for boat and cable.

Getting close to $2K for high end board and bindings is insane to me as well.

I am stoked on slingshots new Shredtown Bindings, literally did a double take because they look so much like Company Vandalls.

Jeff most companies only change the shape up every two years, you could get the 2017 colorway and have the same board

So apparently today is the day!
Excited for the big reveal of all the new stuff at Expo.
Hopefully we'll be seeing first hand accounts (likely mostly via social media) of whats to come for 2018.
Oh, and the Xgames real wake videos drop at 4PM!
Big day!

Hyperlite 2018 site is up as well. Looks like they dramatically downsized the Byerly offerings. Also, there are no wakeskates at all. Is Hyperlite dropping the skates or rebranding them?

Looks like LF has went to all flex track bindings... I have personally witnessed two different 2017 Lf bloodline have issues. One being the bindings slide out on flat landings and the other the whole insert has broke away from the track! Any word whether they have corrected this for 2018?

If slingshot couldn't solve those problems in 10 years, then I doubt LF will be able to.

Slingshots 2018 stuff is live on the website. I don't see a Response for 2018???? Man that board has been a staple in the line for so long and is the board I've ridden for 6 seasons. I also see they replaced the Reflex with the coalition, which I get... same outline, same rocker, etc... a really close replacement. Kinda like when they discontinued the Recoil, the Pill is basically the same board but stiffer core and tip/tail channels.
But with this one, there doesn't seem to be a close replacement? What are Response riders supposed to switch to? Nomad or Pill?
The lineup is very heavily slanted to park boards. They could have at least made a Whip or Pill in a 146 or 148 to replace the Response 147.
Anyway, interesting that they would cancel the Response, figures that would have been a big seller but maybe boat riding is dying and the park boards are all that sell. I did ride a Reflex on boat for a season and it wasn't all that bad, Maybe a coalition 149 is next for me? Or is it finless and softer than the Reflex?

Agreed on the lack of a large boat board that's not a wet noodle. I would be likely to ride the pill if they they made a bigger size.

Agreed, some of the cancellations of Slingshot product would make more sense if they made some of the other boards in larger sizes. For example a Pill 146 as replacement for the large Recoil. And a Whip 147/148 as an alternative to the Response 147. I just can't see how the Nomad could be expected to be the suitable replacement for the Response. Even if significantly stiffer in the belly. The shapes are completely different and inner they ride completely different.
Maybe next year they size a few more boards up?

Whoa.... how did I miss no Oli board for 2018?
Is he still on the team or is he doing something different?
Crazy how many once big name riders no longer have pro-models or are not sponsored at all.
How can Steele Lafferty not have a board sponsor?
I would paint or sticker over every board logo so not to give away free advertising.

Always been a big fan of slingshot but not anymore they are dropping riders and boards from the team and line up. Now the boards are not even made in the USA anymore. Lost all interest completely now. Definitely will be jumping ship to humanoid as many have already at the local parks.....

I know Oli is now the North American rep for Follow, so there is a chance that he wanted to start moving into that kind of role and knew he would not have the time to focus on riding.
Either way, I'm definitely pretty disappointed in the lack of boat oriented boards from Slingshot this year. I like the changes they made to the flex patterns in the Nomad and Pill, but at this point I don't really see a board in the line that I would feel good about riding behind the boat every day

The parkboards kind of look good next year. But i dont know why they would make a binding/boot thats about a pound heavier (each one) than a average LF or Ronix etc... binding. and when they are wet its even worse. 4 pound per boot. compared to my tao 2,4 (wet).
