This past weekend we had our anual Halloween at Hyco event. The weather got cold(50 degrees) on us and cloudy but the Coal Power Plant was pumping all weekend. This is what we woke up to Saturday morning:

Shane, How far is Hyco from Raleigh? We ride and live about 3 miles from Falls but were looking at some property on Hyco. I like the idea of warm water in November! Damn for that matter, with the way Falls looks, I like the idea of water period...

It is about an hour, maybe a little more from Raleigh. It is just a few minutes NW of Roxboro. Check out www.endofropegang.com It is all about NC/VA riders. There is a steal of a property at Hyco for sale right now in the Hyco Forums.

Shane, we ride behind a "Durolina" Blue and White XLV.

It's "Durolina" cause it's between Tar Heel and Blue Devil Blue. We were only out a few times this year as we just had a baby in May. '06 = different story.

We usually put in at Barton's (except when the idiots are out in full force).

How about you? Are you usually down that end of the lake?

Question:
If the water temp is like 76 and the air temp is like 50 wouldn't that differential make for it to be really cold when you're up and out of the water?

Just a little but even while riding you can feel the heat from the water. Heat rises
I ride but what I enjoy moist is when we tie the boats up to a fence where the warm water comes screaming out from the coal plant. We have to hang on to ropes to keep from being carried away with the current. Its fun. Like being in a jacuzzi. Ahhhhhhh the discharge spot. Makes for a nice warm social.

there is a power plant on a local lake, but i don't think its discharge spot is quite that hot

I hate the current from the discharge. It's just not right in my opinion.

Shane sorry for jackin' the thread. Reminds me of skiing in the warm water channel in LBC south of 405. Always warm and always smooth. Just had to stay clear after rains as it was fed upstream by a flood/river channel. Always wondered what might be in that water, but figured it wasn't as bad as the stuff coming out of San Ono where we surfed. So, oh well.
