Help... What kind of wakeboard/surf boat should I get?
 

Hi,

Little about myself:
I am currently shopping around for a boat that is for family/friends use. This will be my first v-drive boat. I'd like to use it for wake surfing, wake boarding, and tubing. It will be mainly a family boat, with friends joining sometimes. I live in Northern California, and willing to travel a bit to find a good deal (Anywhere in CA, Nevada, or Oregon).

I've done some research myself, but still pretty lost since a lot of this is new to me and looking for input from the community.

Musts/Preferred:
-Budget 30k or less
-Clearance of 6'10" Height w/ tower dropped (to fit in garage during off season). Also I have a tandem so length does not matter.
-Built in Ballasts (dont really like the idea of filling up sacks and putting it on seats/floor)
-Perfect Pass
-Wake Plate
-Room for 9+ people

the 6'10" garage height and desire to surf plus your price point says sanger v215 to me.

Sanger V215 definitely fits that bill. I love mine and being in NorCal they are easier to find. I'm in Sac and have V215 in case you want to get more close up with one. I just plumbed in the 1100lb bags in replace of the stock tanks on mine. I have a friend that just bought a V215 as well and loves his. I paid 26k for mine last summer. Its an 05 and had the triple factory ballast. Had 97 hours on it, garage kept and original owner.

Thanks for all the replies! I've done a little research in regards to Sangers and have a a good idea what i'm looking for. I'd prefer a 2008 v215, but if its an earlier model 2004-2007. Looking for the dual ballast rear and bow ballast. Question for you guys around pricing though. Nada Guides state here are the ranges for the years I'm looking for:
2008 v215 - 26000 - 30200
2007 v215 - 24970 - 28505
2006 v215 - 22280 - 25445
2005 v215 - 20395 - 23295
2004 v215 - 18630 - 21275

Does look right or should I be willing to pay out of that range? I did find one that I like, but they are firm at 32000.

I have zero knowledge of the market in CA, and know very little about Sangers, but I do know that NADA guides on inboard boats are always low, sometimes way low.

I'd look at the Sanger above plus Centurion Avalanche (or anything with a C4 hull), or Tige 22V.

NADA values are complete crap, and that usually goes for all boats. My last boat has a $8500 NADA value and I sold it for $14,500 in less than 24 hours of posting it. The price of v215's when I bought mine late last summer were in the low to mid 20's for an older, high hours and rougher condition. Mid 20's to 30k for older but in nice condition, low hours. Low 30's for around 2008. Condition, equipment, etc play a big role too. That's just a rough idea. I've been seeing prices higher right now given time of the year and water conditions.

Wake Plate like on the Sangers & Supras? Or do you mean surf gate to help with the surf wave?

my 02 cents which isn't worth much is you cant go wrong with any of those years ..buy the boat you like that fits the budget your working with ..if you find one that matches your tow rig that would be cool too but not a deal breaker in my opinion . I love the Sanger's always have
