What type of Sumbrella fabric to buy

I design furniture for a living and one of the companies I design for can get me the Sumbrella fabric for a boat cover at wholesale prices. Does anybody know which type of Sumbrella fabric I need to order. I'm going to go for a dark charcole do you see any problems with that color.

Also I'm going to talk to a guy about making a custom cover. About how many yard do you think it will take to cover a 24' super down to the trailer.

My Sumbrella bimini is black and red. The air an inch below the black is substantially hotter than the air under the red material. If it were me, I would avoid dark colors. You might want to avoid red also as that usually fades quicker than others. It has not on mine though.
They list some of the same fabrics for awnings and marine tops. Both would hold out the elements. I don't know if any are easier on gelcoat of breathe better.
Good Luck

Thanks my cover now is light grey but I always see all the nice custom covers like the one above is black. So I thought dark Grey would be a nice inbetween.

I had a black Sunbrella cover on my boat for 11 years and that cover still looked new when I sold the boat. I learned within the first week that you can't let the Sunbrella fabric rest directly on your vinyl in the sun. You need to put a towel or two between the two or it will bake your vinyl when it's exposed to the sun.

I like the dark charcoal tweed. It's got some grey mixed in with some black. Gives you the lighter color but not so much heat. Also gives you the darker look than the light cadet grey so dirt and grime won't show. Been recommended over the black by both evolution and Coversports

Sunbrella is a brand name. So if your getting sunbrella product then you should be good to go as far as quality.

303 on a brand new cover never hurts. And a tip from my good buddy Mike, he buys 303 from Amazon and then once every other year or so he layes out all his patio cushions side by side and adds the 303 to a airless sprayer and go's Full on "Earl Shibe" on all his fabric. Brilliant!

Thanks whiteflash that help a lot.

And I'll add the 303 we had a really wet winter and I got a lot of mold from water pulling in the boat that soaked through the cover.

I think I'll go with 46" Silica Charcoal 4897-0000 it's marine and recommended use is for covers. Now I just need to figure out how much to order.
