2001 Marstar Vs. 2002 Sunscape??

Ok so I have been researching for awhile now, looking to get into a V-drive for under $28,000 or so. I have found a few boats in my area and I am looking for some opinions on them. I am a wakeboarder mainly but I want to get into surfing. I know the maristar linked below will produce a decent wake, but is the price worth it? $28,500 after tax. Has full ballast and PP + more

Then there is a 2002 Malibu Sunscape LSV

No PP and a small ballast set up.

How will the wakes compare between these two boats? Any info would be super helpful in my decision!

maristar is going to be a WIDE wake and you'll have to haul ass for it to clean up. had an older version of that hull.

Not true, IMO. That vintage maristar is the X-30 hull, switched in 1998. We owned one and the wake wasn't wide(narrow beam boat @98") and wasn't hard to clean up at 18-20 for the kids. We never surfed much but a lot of people over on TT say this hull surfs well if that is a factor.

Thanks guys. The dealer says that the wake on this boat is pretty nice ( thats coming from a dealer though). Im leaning more towards the Maristar over the Sunscape...the sunscape seems to be more of a ski boat and doesnt produce a wake suitable for boarding/surfing.

RB, good to know. Mine was before the hull change obviously.

Ryan agree with you. Maristar looks like its in great shape and well optioned

Not too far away if you want something more wake specific. Roadtrip!!

^ That's the one you want from that era. 205v hull. Pretty much good at everything.

Going that far is out of the option for me sadly. trying to make a decision between the Maristar and the Sunscape

21 LSV hands down has the better wakeboard wake. That old x30 hull took a crap ton of weight to get any sort of wake out of it. I wouldn't call the wake wide by any means. It was mellow as all getup. Really lacked in the ummf category. That hull surfed pretty decent. Again though needed crap ton weight.

The 21 LSV has much better wakeboard wake. Lacking the wedge you lose a little of the peakiness you can get out of it, but it wil still produce a great shaped wake. It likes now weight. It's surfs ok but tge pocket is on short side.

You gain a ton of room with the X30, but the wakeboard wake is better on the 21LSV . Edge to the Malibu in more of an updated look. I wouldn't pay close to 24 for the Bu. Even if it had pp. 22k boat tops. 21 without the pp

What if it was delivered to PHX?

Dam that's one clean of star

that xstar is way to nice not to think about. I saw it over on teamtalk and the seller has taken such great care of it!!

It looks like I am going to go with a 2007 Supra Sunsport 22v instead. I found one here at a dealer that is decently priced and fully loaded.

Well that's a nice upgrade to both
