Replacing Decals: 2005 x10

Hey everyone,

I just took gigantic awful "tribal" decal off my 2005 Mastercraft X10, and I'm trying to figure out what decal to buy to replace it. There are some old threads on this subject on MCTeamTalk (where I have not been able to make an account - they don't send the confirmation email, anyone know what that's about??), and they seem to reference the decals here, like this one:

https://waterskis.com/mastercraft-boats-46-decal/

Is that right? Almost $400 for a single decal? An eye-watering $800 to do both sides? The other thing about this decal that concerns me is how 3D is it - if I put that on the side of the boat, I feel like it get in the waterline and eventually get ripped off.

Here's another one: https://waterskis.com/mastercraft-boats-domed-decal/

It's $600 all in for both sides. Woof!

Are there some options I'm missing? For that kind of money I may just run her naked, but I think a new MasterCraft logo would look best.

I am sorry I can not answer your questions, but I was curious how it looks naked? Did you have any fading? I just pulled the tramp stamp decal on my '06 Supra Launch 21V and I think it looks nice. I am also interested in putting a new Supra logo on, but might just go naked for awhile.

Hahaha we have been calling it the tramp stamp too... Our boat is red and white, the section that the tramp stamp came off was the white part, so the fading is very very minimal, even after 15 years. I don't know if that's because it was the white part or not, but I have a feeling if it was a darker color it might be more obvious. I suppose technically you could get right up and see it if you looked really really closely, but even from a couple feet away it is not apparent at all - to the point that I probably won't try to correct it with wetsanding and polishing or anything, as I would be concerned it would do more harm than good.

YA I gotta second that response, how does it look naked? A buddy of mine has a 2006 SA210 and is looking to update the graphic. There is a guy locally who does auto-body work who could probably do a light paint job. But did you come up with some type of home remedy for it?

I'm not a professional, but nautiqueparts.com sells their decals (compared to the decal size you're looking at for M/C) for roughly the same price. They get pricey quick.

You should check out non-boat decal websites and choose to customize the decal to read "MasterCraft".

I am pleased with how it looks naked. Very very hard to see any fading and that is when you are right up on it looking for it. Attachment 45908

Run it naked. If they want you to advertise their brand, they should sell the decals at cost.

I pulled the decals from my second boat (Nautique) when it was about 9 years old. It was really frustrating because no matter how hard I sanded and polished, the ghosts of the old letters kept coming back after a few months. That boat sat on Lake Tahoe for 9 years before I owned it though. Not sure what the history of yours is. The reason I bring it up is I never really saw the ghosting up close so much like you, but I really saw it from 20'-50' away. Have you looked at yours in different lighting conditions from a distance? After awhile, I stopped worrying about it and just used the boat. Moved on and got a new one a couple years later.

That’s an interesting point, but no, you really can’t tell. Close or near, the only time you can see it is if you really get up close and study it. I do think this is because the area of the boat that had the decal is white.

In terms of running it naked - it does look okay as is. There are a few x10s that I’ve seen of my boats era that are red on red, and those look awesome naked in my opinion. But mine, with the white, looks a little plain, but would take a logo really well.

look at getting a quarter or half vinyl wrap done. can add some color or design in addition to your logo. price should be comparable if not less
