Acme 2243
Bill at acme recommended this prop to me for my 05 star I recently purchased. The engine is a 8.1l 450 , and we will be running 5 to 6k of ballast. What to you guys think? Has anyone used this prop before?

slightly off subject.... I want to ride that wake please....
What prop is on it/will be on it? can you load it up as much as possible and take wakes pics? then do that again with the new prop with the same weight and take pics, rpm, plane times...etc? thanks. |
the prop on it now is an oj 13.7 x 19.5
and somehow it barely got on plane with four 750s with out ballast we could get up to 50 mph which is a bit rediculous... theres not enough clearance between the rudder and shaft to get this pro off... im probably going to have to remove the rudder im not sure what rpms we were doing |
I'd like to hear your results as well...I talked with Jim at Acme and I asked what other prop would help my non wake plate version MC X15 have better hole shot.
I'm currently running an Acme 1285 with the MCX motor and have around 2200 pounds of ballast and the boat struggles to plane off. Jim suggested a Acme 2305 which is 15 x 12 with 1.05 cup...i think thats right...if the hull clearance allows for it. |

How much clearance do you have between your current prop (13.7" diameter) and your hull?

If you can get a 14.5 or 15" diameter prop on it then that is the direction you should take but if you are limited to a smaller diameter then the OJ 5-Blade prop might be a good choice.
I have an Enzo and it is limited to 13.5" diameter props which just do not have the pulling power of a 14.5 or 15" prop so I tried the OJ 5-blade and was really impressed with the extra holeshot it gave me over my Acme 1579 prop (13.5x14.25"). |
heres a pic of the 2243, i have about an inch of clearance
and the prop that used to be on there is on the ground paha it looks like a baby! i installed my home made plug n play system last night and now im waiting on sacs and more sacs to come in the mail http://a6.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot...52579819_n.jpg |
here are the specs on the 2243
Diameter: 15" Pitch: 14.25" Cup: .105 i will tell yall how it works out when we get all of our gear in |
Holy crap, what a drop in pitch, that'll work.
|
all the sacs came in the mail yesterday and we took out the boat today to test the prop. we ran 4k in ballast with 6 people the wake was extremely large and we didnt feel the need to add more weight... anyways the boat gets on plane in 4 to 6 seconds, this boat and prop are beast status! couldnt be any happier!
4500rpms to get on plane and once on plane it dropped down to 3500 acme is the bomb i wouldnt go with any other prop |
