How do you like your double ups?

Personally i like them real "T'd" off. But i watch a lot of videos where they dont loop around as far and make more of a 50 degree angle. I never do that because i feel like i would be landing in my rollers if i did. So what do you guys think?

Depends on what I wanna do, If I wanna fly in to the flats and launch then a bit open. To get punted I like them "T-ed" up at a 90.

little open. makes spining a little easier

I like a perfect 90 degrees for all tricks

I like 90s for the taller lip... but a little more open than normal so you can keep a good edge on your approach. Hit the 3rd roller! "HUGE"

Slightly open and usually shoot to see what happens behind door #2.

I prefer mine tee'd up. However its pretty freaking rare to get a boat driver that can line them up that consistently with the same approach...especially when we are constantly bouncing between boats, other lake traffic, rollers, etc. That's why its a team effort to get a few good ones in a session.

I grew up on a lake that only allowed us to turn counter closkwise. Being Regular I got used to hiting mine from the outside so I'd have to have them at 90 or they'd be too abrupted. It was nice having them open toeside as it made it easier to clear the wake, especially when first getting used to hitting it toeside. Now I kind of like the opo of the 90 either way as open never gives me the kick I expect.

Open might be better on some of the bigger 4000lbs wakes some riders are pushing.

Do you guys slow down the boat when sending the roller to maximise the fatness?

durty_curt 07-26-2010 7:04 PM

sorry im just a little confused. when you guys say you like the setup "open" do you mean over 90 degrees like 100-110?

wake77 07-26-2010 9:58 PM

^Open is < 90 degrees.

no no no... when i say open i mean more distance between the meeting rollers. there a lot of different ways to pull a double up... some do large circle and others drive triangular patterns, etc... The wider you make a turn is naturally going to "open" up the double up. When you allow more time for the wake to spread out you are creating more time between the peaks of the two rollers. When you make a tight turn you put the peaks closer together. It's personal prefference, but i like them at 90 and more "open" so it gives you more time to get in the right position on your approach.
