1999 wakesetter

Is the boat at the link below worth looking at? Or you better to get one where someone took care of it?

if someone can't even take fishing line off of the prop to take pictures of something they want to sell, I'd imagine the rest of the neglect beyond everything you can see is much worse. Its not worth anything close to 13 either. Maybe 8 if you're feeling generous and have lots of mechanical ability or really good friends that do.

Well... it isn't a 23000 boat in mint condition. Now that that rumor is dispelled, 13 isn't a horrible deal, it needs some TLC but it looks like a boat that you could buy, run it and fix as you go, I wouldn't pay 13, more like 11-12, but it looks ok. Someone will buy this though, so if you want a project, go look at it

those boats still sell in the mid 20's in good condition. dont know where you have been but any vdrive in the 2000's except sanger's still sell over 20k. and most well kept sanger's are still priced that high

If it does not need serious motor work and you have the time and ability to work on it, it is a good deal. That boat would go for $23K here for sure if it was cleaned up.

tyler97217 08-22-2013 12:19 PM

Although I am kind of surprised the dealer did not offer him the $13K for it..... I know I would have if I was a dealer and had a staff that could turn it around quickly. Maybe there is much more wrong with it........

It was in a impound lot for 3 years.... no cover for the first year. Idk if elbow grease would buff that out!

machloosy 08-22-2013 1:35 PM

I'd be looking to settle around 10. If the drive train is good to go. Nothing on that boat will "buff out" but for a budget v-drive, that boat is seriously a great option. if the drive train is solid, you can also board while you're fixing everything else. It's a cool way to get a killer v-drive wake on a DD budget. And I say it's worth high teens or right on 20K in excellent shape.

You all make very valid points, I will save my time and look for something nicer. I know from experience that if the exterior is neglected, they didn't take care of anything else on it. My luck it would be a huge money pit and if a buddy bought it, it would be the most reliable boat ever.

Sold for 10K to a guy in Wiscosin.

Needed 4k in just motor rework... doesnt include all your normal replacement stuff. The 4k was for starter, alternator, and literally rewiring the whole boat. The sound system had been completely destroyed as well. Trailer needs new hubs so not sure how hes gonna pull it home :banghead:

This guys got a real project ahead of him!

I can't think of many ways to abuse a boat more than to leave it sitting without use for three years.

TC_Mastercraf_X5 08-23-2013 10:59 AM

If you look at the pictures his tower speaker have literally broken in two. Apparently the DNR felt it necessary to fold the tower down resulting in both his seats and his speakers being destroyed!

I had a cousin buy a prostar 190 early 90s? with the spoiler and he literally sunk 10 grand into redoing the boat on top of paying 9 grand for it, so that was my lesson. Thanks for the info.
