speedometer isn't even hooked up or I would fix it. the needle does move when the boats moving but im not sure y. It seems like whoever owned the boat took out the pitot and put a sensor there for the depth finder instead. Don't really need the speedometer tho. We were scoping the wake and it looked great. Narrowed out when I picked up the speed a touch. I'm thinking of getting a 19" pitch prop tho instead of dropping all the way down to 18". Don't want my rpms too high and it seems like its fine as is with the 21" 3 blade already. Looking for a aluminum one because of cost, but don't know what diameter to get. Not sure what the 3 blade is it only has a part# on it. does diameter really matter? what diameter can I put on 1996 Alpha one 3.0L?

If you have an iphone or android you can download free GPS speedometer apps. Get you a suction cup mount to stick it to the dash or windshield and you'll have a really accurate speedometer (Doesn't account for current though). I did this for a while until I could replace my speedometer with a Perfect Pass.

Oh, and some outdrives have a pitot pickup integrated into them instead of the typical pickup that hangs off of the transom. Look at the front of the skeg for a small notch that leads to a hole. You can try cleaning that out with a small drill bit or wire. You can also disconnect the hose from the back of the speedometer and blow air through that with a compressor or a can of air (Computer Duster). to try to blow any debris out through the back end.
