Mastercraft High Fly Kit

http://media.wakemakers.com/2009/12/...keboard-boats/

I was looking at the High Fly Kit for the X2, but on most site it says up to the '08 model. Has anybody installed this on more recent models? I want to buy a new 2013 X2 next year, but I want to install additional ballast since the boat only comes with like 500lbs stock...

Yep installed it in a 2010 was easy just a bit fiddly getting to the over flows and fitting the switches in the lockers.

Boat comes with 900 lbs stock- and yes they can install the fly high system.

I'm pretty sure most people just buy the sacs. I didn't need the valves they show mounted under the rear seat because I can stop the pumps if I dont want to fill it up all the way. I bought the sacs, hose and sac fittings at the local proshop and found all the barb fittings and stainless steel hose clamps at the hardware store. Super simple- Took the vent lines out of the hard tanks and plumbed them into the sacs. Then vent the sacs through the top holes out the vent lines. Its a half day home project. The toughest part is getting to the center hard tank.

The X2 comes with 900lbs stock?

Probably total. Not 900 lbs. bags.

I have been in the 2013 X-2. Our dealer, Portland Ski Boat Center, was lucky enough to get one a couple weeks ago.

The Fly High X-2 Ballast kit does NOT work in 2012 to 2013 X-2 boats. The bow shape has been changed. There is no room for the front sac but the rear sacs will still work. Probably going to need some lead up there as even a custom sac would not hold enough water to warrant the price. If you don't mind walking on a bag the walk through area would be a good spot as well.

My 2011 had 900 lbs of stock ballast, total between 3 hard tanks.

Has it always been 900lbs or did they recently up it? I have a 2008...

boardman74 09-30-2012 2:58 PM

I looked at a 04 X30 and it was 900 back then. Rear tanks and a center bag in the ski locker. 250, 250, 400 I think.

kskonn 10-01-2012 6:42 AM

I thought it was always 900, the X Star was 1100. My 03 X30 was 900 and my 11 X2 was also 900, todd nailed it, 250,250, 400

I think my 06 X2 was about 600 lbs. They increased the size of the rear hard tanks somewhere around 2008.

Interesting. I have the 08 and I thought it was around 600

boardman74 10-02-2012 1:08 PM

Not if it's the triple.

May have been 2009 I dont know, but I know for sure the rear tanks in mine were smaller than some newer X2s I crawled around in. Personally I prefer the smaller hard tanks because they take up less storage space. You can always ad fat sacs as needed.

Right, but as we are discussing in this thread about the high fly kit, finding sacs that fit newer models is becoming more difficult.

Chris,
Since the 2013 X-2 Rear compartments are 30" x 21" x 15" I would just go with the standard X-2 rear sacs (32" x 18" x 20") and a MasterCraft Piggy rear ballast upgrade kit. We could get a bow walk way sac plumbed into the KGB tank. For 2013 we can actually change the ballast timers at the helm. If you don't want a sac in the middle of your boat there is always room for lead.
Thanks,
Spencer
