Count me in!

push_girl 08-18-2008 10:12 AM

I'll be there for sure! Can't wait. Have already been practicing and getting ready!!

a1flowergirl 08-18-2008 10:42 AM

So I got Thursday and Friday off work that week. Just trying to figure out if I can actually make it down there in time to check-in.

Does anyone have any idea what time our division will start? I know that we are 4th on the list.

Annie -- are you guys flying or driving?

(Message edited by a1flowergirl on August 18, 2008)

push_girl 08-19-2008 9:50 AM

We are flying. Driving was going to take 12 hours, so we decided to fly cause I could only get a couple of days off. We fly out Wednesday night from O'Hare. I think there might still be room on the plane, but the tickets have gone up considerably. The flight leaves at 9:45pm and arrives 11:50pm. I'm going to get up and check in early the next morning.
Times won't be posted until after the 25th because that's when the cut off for registration is. Hope that helps.

a1flowergirl 08-19-2008 11:57 AM

Yeah, I could only get Thursday and Friday off with it being a holiday week. I'm trying to sweet talk one of my friends into a roadtrip . . . flights looked way too expensive by the time I looked into it and I won't get out of work until 9pm at the earliest Wednesday night. If I go, it will be a crazy trip . . . but totally worth it!

lizrd 08-19-2008 1:25 PM

I'm out...maybe next year if it is somewhere fun.

I was on another wakeboarding discussion forum and I thought I read something about a 31 year old woman coming all the way from China! That would really make it an international competition. Has anyone heard any more about this? I can't remember where I heard it but it sure would be neat to meet her. You girls better show Oklahoma what you're made of!

cece 08-19-2008 2:25 PM

I'm waiting to see what the MRI results are and when I can get in to see the Dr for the follow up. I'm hoping to have a better idea by the end of the week.

These have been the longest 4 weeks of my life!

wakekat15 08-19-2008 2:26 PM

Liz - what??? Anywhere will be fun with the Fox River Gang in attendance!!

Yeah, I heard about the 46 year old China woman throwing down whirlys, raleys, etc. They have a wakeboard forum website where my Asian friend told me she read about her...if only I could read from right to left! Oh wait...I can't read Chinese anyway!

I bet with all the clean air in Oklahoma, she won't be at her best with all that oxygen available!

rnopr8 08-19-2008 6:37 PM

I love that....Fox River Gang....SIC!!!

Wow...Kat You sure have a lot of friends

a1flowergirl 08-20-2008 8:37 AM

Chris -- keep us posted . . . we are all pulling for you!

oldgirl 08-20-2008 6:55 PM

wow, chinese women killing it! I might have to see that. does any one want to share a room and or car?

rnopr8 08-20-2008 8:05 PM

Allison....I thought you said you retired cause you have done it all now and the rest of us wouldn't stand a chance at winning if you didn't retire!!!

Anyway, Jack & Kyle are going again so my room's full.

oldgirl 08-21-2008 7:49 AM

I thought I should end on a winning note, then I realized that I was not ready to be done. I definitely think that if I continue to compete, the rest of you will beat me!

Anyone else need to share expenses?

rnopr8 08-21-2008 8:42 AM

Its all about having fun, doing your best and meeting new friends who share your passion. If you have done this, you have won

See y'all soon!

cece 08-21-2008 9:13 AM

Well ladies I am officially not going to World's. The Doc is still on vacation and I am hoping that he will at least call me next week and tell me the results of my MRI. My follow up appointment isn't until September 15th!!

Good luck to all of you! I will be thinking about you, and I'm sure I'll be bugging Geri for updates every day. Just do me a favor and have a great time, take lots of pictures, and cheer on Erica for me if she makes the trip for Am Women.

a1flowergirl 08-21-2008 9:36 AM

Chris -- What an ordeal you've been going through! I hope you get those results sooner rather than later . . . waiting is the hardest part. We will definitely miss you at Worlds!

Take care of yourself now so you can tear it up next year!

cece 08-21-2008 9:47 AM

Thanks Jen!!

You are right, waiting is the hardest part! The longer I wait, the more my semi-happy thoughts of a meniscus tear or bruise are turning into fears of a full ACL tear

oldgirl 08-21-2008 12:06 PM

Good luck Cece. No mater what the results of the MRI, you will be back, some recoveries just take longer than others. Stay positive!

wakekat15 08-21-2008 3:06 PM

Allison, I have friends in from Austin and a full room. We are only staying Thursday night anyway, as we have family 90 miles away.

Sorry I can't help you out with expenses!

a1flowergirl 08-22-2008 9:55 PM

Okay ladies . . . I've made my final decision. I think one of my friends is willing to make the drive with me, but even if she bails, I'm in!!!

I just decided tonight that this is something that I want to do so I'm going to do it no matter what!

Looking forward to seeing you all in two weeks!!!

wakekat15 08-23-2008 4:55 AM

Excellent news, Jen!!! Looking forward to seeing you there!

lizrd 09-04-2008 5:35 AM

Thinking of you gals today. Tear it up!

cece 09-04-2008 7:15 AM

Good luck today ladies!

rnopr8 09-04-2008 9:40 AM

wish I was there!!! Have fun and do a half cab for me!

rnopr8 09-04-2008 9:42 AM

Just talked to Jen & Kat:
1. Kat
2. Allison
3. Annie
4. Jen
5. Girl from Japan...no kidding!!

cece 09-04-2008 10:15 AM

Congratulations ladies! Way to represent our division. I so wish that I could have made it to support you all. Next year for sure!!

Good news - no acute tears in my knee! My ACL is good and so is my meniscus, but I have some cartilage damage/wear

lizrd 09-04-2008 10:58 AM

Great news Chris! Now, get back on that board!

They sounded like they were having fun - even an adventure. Jen got pulled over by flashing blue lights on the 13 hour drive and Kat's board didn't make it on her plane! She had to ride on some board she got on closeout at a sporting goods store! Can you imagine? The conditions sounded good other than the river being really muddy. Evidently it is a long run on the river. Now the fun begins with tomorrow's finals. I know they will represent! Kick some booty, girls!

I got a text from Jen that there was a girl from Japan and I honestly couldn't believe it! Who would've guessed?!? Funny!

Women wakeboarders over 30 rock!

cece 09-04-2008 12:10 PM

Holy cow! Sounds like there were some definite obstacles for our ladies. Apparently the new board didn't effect Kat too much and I hope the owner of the flashing blue lights had a heart and gave Jen a warning. Do you know if Kat's board will make it in time for tomorrow?

I can believe the girl from Japan. There was one in my division when I rode Am. Women 4 years ago. I believe there was also one from the UK. That's cool that there is some true international interest in the division.

I am going to get a shot in my knee to reduce the swelling and then as series of shots to, as the Dr described it, give it a "lube job". Hopefully I'll be back to yoga and the gym by the end of the month and then back on the board in October. I'm going nutty sitting on my butt!

lizrd 09-04-2008 6:35 PM

I'll have to let Jen fill you in on the whole story. He did wish her luck at Wakeboard Worlds but blue lights in your rearview mirror are never good. The worst part was it happened about an hour from home! They had barely started!

Word has it as of 4pm this afternoon Kat's board was on a plane headed to OKC. Hopefully it will get courriered to the hotel so that she can rip on her own stick tomorrow. That lady can ride!

I'm looking forward to a full report with photos from the girls when they get back to cyber-land. Don't forget the webcast is tomorrow- I have already sent in an email to the announcers Dano and Nick. I plan on shutting my office door with the message that there needs to be an emergency to interrupt the "project" I am working on.

Chris - good luck on the knee. This is your 30,000 mile tune-up!

rnopr8 09-04-2008 8:54 PM

Well ladies...good luck in the finals. I will be asleep in the OR getting this broken foot fixed as you ride.
Jen...no flashing lights on the way home.
Kat...looks like the new board is a keeper???
Can't wait till we all meet again.

lizrd 09-05-2008 5:41 AM

Thinking of you today Geri!

wakekat15 09-05-2008 6:09 AM

Thanks for all the support, Ladies!! My board did arrive about 10pm last night - no excuses now!

cece 09-05-2008 7:20 AM

Tear it up today ladies! I'll be watching you on the web as well.

Kat - So glad the board made it. I know how stressful that can be.

Geri - Good luck today sister! My thoughts and prayers will be with you.

lizrd 09-05-2008 9:15 AM

Just watched everyone's run. Nice work! This is going to be close... I can't wait to see the results. Dano even announced an email from Geri saying "hi" to everyone.

lizrd 09-05-2008 10:01 AM

1. Allison
2. Annie
3. Kat

Great riding ladies!

rnopr8 09-05-2008 5:33 PM

Good job....wish I could have seen it. I got home and tuned in right away.

Thanks for all your thoughts and prayers. Everything went well. I am now the painful I mean proud owner of a plate with 7 screws. I will try to get copies of the films and post them. One week off work, two weeks in a splint, and 4 more weeks in a cast. Then I can start walking again. Ugh

a1flowergirl 09-06-2008 4:37 AM

Chris -- Great news about your knee! It will be an awesome day for you when you get back out on your board.

Geri -- Glad the surgery went well . . . was great talking to you last night!

What a great trip! Although I was less than thrilled with my run, it was such a great experience and I can't wait to do it again next year! The best part was hanging out with such an awesome group of women riders.

I made it home safely without any "unexpected" stops. Time for a nap before work now . . .

lizrd 09-06-2008 5:08 AM

Yea, Geri! Good to hear from you. I'd love to see photos or your finished product. All of the hardware is internal, right? Will they have to remove it or is it all yours to keep?

cece 09-06-2008 8:48 AM

Geri - Glad it went well! I was thinking about you as I was watching the girls on the web.

Alison, Annie, Kat - Great runs! Way to represent the old women in the finals! The announcers had great things to say about all of you, it was cool.

Jen - Happy you made it home safe and sound. Can't wait for the opportunity to hang out in the future.

rnopr8 09-07-2008 11:06 PM

Congratulations Allison, Annie & Kat....& Jen too!!

I just want to tell you guys thank you for making this possible for all of us. I did only a small part to get the idea going, but you guys did the big part by coming and riding. My new motto is "if your mind can conceive it, your heart can believe it, then you can achieve it."

I so enjoyed meeting all of you and I had such a good time getting to know you. I will be there again next year as I hope you all will be too....and more riders next time!! I would love to see this division really grow, but we are off to such a great start.

Let's keep in touch over the winter and come out killing it next spring!!! Long live Fox River Riders!!

(Liz...the hardware is mine unless down the road it bothers me then it comes out.)

polhamus 09-08-2008 7:29 AM

Congrats to all! Chris how did you watch it on the web? See you all at the wake games! ho!!!

rnopr8 09-08-2008 9:04 AM

Kim, I watched it Sat & Sun from start to finish. If you got onto the home page of Wakeworld there was a link that connected you live to the announcers tower. They showed every run except for the first day. So sorry you didn't know! Look forward to you joining the most elite!!!

sexyws6mama 09-08-2008 10:49 AM

I watched it too..... Congrats to all that participated and placed!!! Ya'll give me inspiration.

How old are most when they start wakeboarding? I'm just wondering if I'll ever catch up!!

rnopr8 09-08-2008 11:26 AM

You will definitely catch up!!! I started about 5 years ago at age 49

lizrd 09-08-2008 3:22 PM

Audry - from your profile you are a spring chicken! We are all over 30 so you certainly have time to progress. We are all about having a good time on the water - no matter what your skill level. I started seriously riding (more than once a week) about 3 years ago at 33.

oldgirl 09-08-2008 7:36 PM

I started riding at 42 and I just turned 46 but I wish I was as young as Geri!

polhamus 09-27-2008 1:44 PM

Allison nice you made it into wakeboarding mag! woohoo! good job to all. and what a way to represent!

wakekat15 09-27-2008 2:54 PM

Ditto Old Girl...way to represent! Congrats!

oldgirl 09-29-2008 7:18 AM

thanks!

rnopr8 10-01-2008 10:57 PM

Ok...not sure I posted this for all you guys yet. Cast off in 2 weeks....been 5 weeks....hope it has healed and stays off.

wakekat15 10-02-2008 7:47 AM
