G23 best prop

What prop are you guys running? I have a 2015 g23 with the 450 I currently have the stock 2561 and with full ballast and a boat full of ppl it struggles to wakeboard I pulled prop off and I will get it worked I was also looking at the OJ I have not read anything about anyone using 1 I did go with the oj on my 2013 and it did well just Have not heard anything on the 2:1 and the 17x17 OJ

I'm no help because I don't have a G23 but I'll bump your thread because I want to know the answer. I'll be looking for a used G23 in the next year or two. Ruining a smaller engine with a bigger prop has always worked for my needs. If I could find a 550 in my budget I would get it. But that's like finding a needle in a haystack at the price I want a G for.

It's like wakeworld has complete gotten away from the upgrading props, ballast and even sound systems.

It is probably a worthy discussion, but I am not sure if I would expect a whole lot of difference between two different 17 X 17 props, just different manufacturers. They can adjust the cup, but the bulk of the thrust is provided by the diameter and pitch nonetheless.

I am sure that OJ would let you test one out and return it as long as you don't ding it, for just the price of shipping. Relative to the price of the purchase, that is chump change to be sure you have the best prop for your usage patterns.

I bought a 17x17 from Eric and it was OK. I called Eric told him what it was doing and he said send it back. I am not sure what he did to it but once I got it back it out performed my ACME 17x17.

Fully loaded with 600# lead (OJ Prop)

Wakeboard 4100 rpm
Surf 3250-3300 rpm

Probably made it a 17 x 15.

A prop that floats, would be good.

Acme 2749, what is the altitude where u ride? Lower pitch 14 but should put the boat to plane faster

fizzz 07-30-2018 6:23 AM

hes in new orleans

chris my neighbor has a 2017 g23 with the 450 and hes running the acme 2569, it seems to work great. only time it wouldnt get on plane was wakeboarding with full ballast and like 14-15 people. we dropped the weight to 2000 and it was good to go.

chris_schweda 07-31-2018 8:56 AM

I went with the OJ 970 it seems to work better that the acme I had yet I have not had 15 ppl in the boat with full ballast

chpthril 07-31-2018 9:26 AM

Whats the cup on the 970? Cant find it listed.

I would not think this was the case since it lowered the RPMs on surf and Wake. Im sure it was some type of cup change.
