How long did you wait after baby was born to start wakeboarding...I am hoping to go at least once before the season is over...baby is due in 10 days!!!

I would assume 6 weeks at least

my friend waited 6 weeks to get clearance from her OB, then her first ride back she fractured her knee! (can't remember bones involved etc).
In her case it was suggested that her calcium was depleted after giving birth, and another point I heard was that for about 3 months after giving birth, all ligaments etc in the body are extra loose, which may have allowed extra movement in the joint and added to the injury.
my suggestion would be to wait for drs clearance, take some calcium supplements, and gradually build up to more high impact riding (ie don't try to start jumping right away!).
I think my friend was unlucky, but it was such a random thing to happen, and it wasn't a bad fall at all. just be careful

a minimum of 6 wks (too much Relaxin and Oxytocin in the body before then to keep your joints where they need to be- you'll be bendy-girl till your hormones even out.)

congrats on your baby!

I had to wait 6 months, but only because it was winter when I had my daughter and I don't do cold water. (Plus I had to get back into bikini shape!) ;)

Yes Kim...great answer...that is exactly why you should wait...plus it also depends if you end up with a c-section or not....but mostly the relaxin has to level out.

I know this thread is four years old now... but would the wait period be different with a c-section? Had my baby boy via emergency c-section 8 weeks ago today and am dying to get on the water once before it's too cold and the boat is put away!! Thoughts?
