I picked up a leftover '08 VTX this past spring,(absolutely love it)but the stereo frustrates me almost every time out on the water! First off if there is a way to mute the stereo from the mux switches I would love to know about it....Secondly is there an adapter on the market that allows you to scroll through your songs (on your ipod) using the mux switches? Seems to me that there must be a company out there that has a solution to this problem.

Its supposed to do that factory. And it doesn't. I have an 08, and no mute is normal. Nature of the beast i guess. <BR> <BR>If you look at the black box wiring, you can see where the AUX wiring attaches to teh glove box. I ran an aux in cable over to the drivers side to control my ipod right there. If yours doesn't have aux on teh drivers side, i recommend this approach.

someone out there must have the technology to get a mute option on the mux switches? This would be extremely beneficial when picking up down rider...sometimes it's nice to talk or even share a laugh! turning volume down and back up kinda gets old.

What radio does the VTX have? I have a stock Clarion in my 08 MB that has an IPOD interface port. Installed the interface cable/adapter last weekend does everything you are looking for mute button, scrolling through songs etc. Only issue is that it is for the 2nd generation IPODs vs the newer ones, but as someone said in an earlier thread you can buy an older generation IPOD for $30 on ebay and leave in the boat. I also have an 08 VTX and am looking for ipod controls to have on the drivers side. I'm getting tired of asking my wife to hit the next button or pause it. I'm sure she's getting tired of it too. Would love to find a way to mount my ipod touch or iphone on the drivers side or have controls for it in the LCD panel.
