Holes in my boat
After removing the old deck mounted Bimini, it left two decent sized holes on the boat:banghead:. Do any of you know of a stainless plate or hook I could put on top of it to cover the hole. I would like something that looks like it is supposed to be there. I don't want to put bondo on it or anything like that.
Thanks -Trever |
I would try and do it right. Even if it didn't come out perfect it would look better than a hook in a weird location.
http://www.wakeworld.com/forum/showthread.php?t=674757 Take a look at grants post. |
I really do t have the time to do that, although it did come out nicely. I'm looking for anything to cover it thanks

Well I saw this the other day then. But it turns one hole into 4 more LOL

What mounts onto it?
|
Nothing it's just a flush mount ring you can use to tie off things to.
|
I'm looking for a plate that is either adhesive or requires only one screw/bolt. Would some sort of vent work- clamshell vent?
|
Can you get two pieces of seadeck made and cover the holes with that. A lot of new boats have some sort of non skid on top of the gunnels at certain spots.
|
Yes, while the step pads would work, it would look very odd because it's in between the tower legs by the windshield
|
cupholder
|
A cup holder wouldn't work because it's on the side of the gunnel
|
Well I guess to help you more it seems you should post a pic of the area. Nothing will look factory beside fixing it as either it has the bimni or not in that spot I would assume. Pic helps as we don't know where the hole is located.

The small bracket by the tower leg will be removed leaving two small holes
|
rider down flag holder?
you're gonna have to get creative with us bro |
I guess that could work. Do any of you know of just a metal cover up plate or vent or something like that
|
Pop-up cleat.
|
Just leave it man. Just a couple of holes in a older boat.
|
I vote for tweeters! You'd blaze new ground in the marine audio world, which is almost impossible on wakeworld these days. My second vote is for the pop up cleats, which is an excellent and much more practical suggestion . . . .
|
What about a temporary standard cleat? Non pop-up type. You can always install a pop up later in its place. Just a thought.
|
Why not just take some white 5200 and a putty knife and fill than flush and let dry. If it's just two small holes it will be barely noticeable. If it still bothers you come back with a sticker over the spot some v210 stickers would do it.
|
dude just fix it right go to tap plastics get the gel coat repair stuff and do it ..wont take but a couple hours at the most and most of that time is waiting for the gel to dry .
BTW Nice choice in boat happens to be my favorite |
My boat came with these fender hangers which I find handy particularly as at the front location is where it's most prone to rub but there is nowhere to tie a fender. Could be an option if it's in a convenient spot, but I'd be more inclined to patch with gel even if it's not a perfect color match. Either way at least fill the hole with something if covering over it, even if just epoxy or 4200.

That could work if the holes were the same distance apart or close

This is my last try, and I still say fix it right!!!!
It's so sad that I was laying in bed last night trying to figure out a solution for your boat for somebody I don't even know LOL but hey that's why I love WAKEWORLD. These are only 7.69 on Ebay. http://www.ebay.com/itm/VEHICLE-AUTO...ZXmFqV&vxp=mtr |
You guys have thought of great solutions thank you so much for
|
I'd do a pop up cleat too
|
Wait that vent looks great!!
Nice find |
I could have sworn I have seen some Oval brushed metal Sanger badges that would cover that spot nicely. And I have seen some chrome looking Badges that go on top of the plastic motor cover perhaps you could hijack the one on your existing motor cover. I think a lot of Sangers have a sticker that says black scorpion or somthing I'm sure you could find some badge that would look more factory.
|
BTW that fender side vent cover above is hiddious. Any person the would consider that as a viable option is crazy IMO
|
vent: I glanced at it on my phone earlier. yea, I wouldn't put that on my boat either.
Sanger does make some an oval piece that would work well there. Backlit would look cool |
does anyone know of a rubber boat emblem of something like that, similar to the Calabria Pure Vert emblem or the 1996 sanger V210 emblem? Thanks
|
How big is the hole? If you do any surfing then for one side you could always upgrade your fuel vent...or both if you like the look. You may need a dremel to dish the hole.

I'd go with a "Phender Pro", like the new Nautiques have as an option. That's a great place for a fender mount in that boat.

What about some seadek or gator-step traction pads.
Place one there, and one just behind the tower. They are actually pretty helpful in getting boards on/off the tower and people in/out of the boat. I have the same issue on my 89 supra, when the previous owner took off the bimini mount to attach it to the tower, some big chunks of gel came off with it, like the gel hadn't cured all the way before the factory mounted the bimini feet. Anyway when I first got the boat it was one of those things I was gonna get to right away cause it bothered me. Coming into the end of season 2 and they are still there : ) I'm either going to patch them or go the Seadek step pad route. http://www.seadek.com/p-17-step-kit-...x-12-each.aspx I think they make this in the faux teak also.... |
If you are looking at something very simple and plain, I would consider this: http://www.wearandtearpads.com/
I have not yet tried it, but have a set sitting in the garage. If they work as advertised, I will be a huge fan. Their reviews are pretty solid. He sent me an email asking for any feedback. I can tell this is a guy that delivers quality support and service. |
