Who would ruin a boat like this?

What kind of thought goes into a project like this?

I would suspect this has been done for a reason... i.e: boat was trashed and engine/running gear destroyed. thus this was a way to bring it back to life on a budget.

I doubt it was bought by a serious wakeboarder... more likely because it was cheap and an insurance write off.

surfdoggy 01-10-2011 7:09 AM

I like the custom dash too!

wake77 01-10-2011 7:44 AM

Some ideas are better left on paper.

epic1 01-10-2011 8:03 AM

cant imagine that reenforceing the transom, buying a volvo stern drive and all the assioated pain in the azz with converting to i/o is in any way cheaper than having the original runing gear re done?

brit_rider 01-10-2011 8:30 AM

Depends if you already had a volvo drive in a donor boat....

All this is speculation but I'd be surprised if there weren't a story behind this.

guido 01-10-2011 11:21 AM

Wow.... That's all I've got to say. I'd love to hear that story.

baitkiller 01-10-2011 11:35 AM

My crystal ball says theft recovery. Boat was stripped of everything except the fiberglass and a stern-drive package was on hand or available.

Or it's just a case of.....>>>terminal stupidity.

repo 01-10-2011 1:06 PM

What seems to be wrong with it?

:D:D:D

joeshmoe 01-10-2011 1:42 PM

To me it looks like your typical I/O

brit_rider 01-10-2011 1:43 PM

Who's going to sack up and ask the guy? My email addresses are all in the UK so I doubt I'd even get a response... Anyone local maybe?

That looks like the advertising shell my dealer used to have here. He closed up a while back, guess somebody bought the boat to convert it to a working one. I thought it did not have a hull ID and was not a regular hull. I will have to message him to see.

baitkiller 01-10-2011 6:34 PM

Keith, your right. I remember seeing that shell online for sale a few years back.

sanddragon2004 01-31-2011 11:34 AM

gotta imagine that thing would handle like crap considering wakeboard boats are designed with rudder and drive hardware under the boat not behind the boat. at least its a volvo, those are bulletproof drives.

razzman 01-31-2011 1:05 PM

Same as the guys that bastardize cars or anything else for that matter, why should a boat be any different? Some people just like to screw around and jack stuff up is all.

wakebrdr94 01-31-2011 2:04 PM

Just when I'm having a crappy day, the 2011 house boat perks me up

hoosierwake 02-13-2011 8:06 PM

awesome i would rent that !!

rallyart 02-13-2011 9:18 PM

Razzman! I want that boat. Inboard/Outboard, or actually it's an outboard that's inboard part of the time, wipers, rolldown windows like the Corvette Malibu. Two tone paint. That's cherry.
The hull even looks a bit like a Mastercraft.

ilikebeaverandboats 02-13-2011 10:00 PM

shoot i remember seeing this on TO i while back and they actually had the real story behind it. ill see if i can dig it up...
