Super Sport Nautique 1996 prop shaft

Should my rudder and prop be inline on this boat? I know some are offset.

How does it steer?

Maybe you have already, but I'd post this on Correctcraftfan.com. Pretty sure that on my '97 Super Sport they're inline.

Should be inline

Our 1989 Supra Comp is offset the same amount as your is, but to the opposite side, which would be due to the RH prop rotation on our boat, and I would guess your is LH rotation on your prop? If it is, I'm guessing you're just fine.

Its offset so you can remove the shaft without removing the motor. All inboards and V drives have the same offset.

Nope. Blanket statements are rarely true. Not all inboards use an offset rudder. In fact, until the late 90's the majority of tournament style inboards used inline driveshaft/rudder placements.

Hmm I guess I could be wrong But my 84 Supra comp 89 Supra Sunsport 92 Supra Comp and 08 Nautique 210 all have offset rudders as well as every other inboard I have ever seen. What brand doesn't have the offset?

Every one of the 10+ Nautiques I've owned has the rudder directly in line with the center of the shaft. The two service shops I am familiar with have the process where they pull the strut when replacing bent shafts because 1 sometimes they are bent too and 2 they would otherwise need to pull the rudder because it's normally in the way and prevents the shaft from being pulled.

Hard to tell on my phone but it looks to me like your rudder is bent.

Just did a propshaft on a 2005 X7, rudder was centered behind shaft.
